Default Went to 3 gun stores to do PPT today

1st one was a gunsmith shop that was willing to do a PPT until he couldn't figure out the system.

2nd one was Guns Fishing and other stuff, had separate lines for different departments. Everyone said they were rude and overworked. Owner said he wasn't doing PPTs. Guns were way overpriced, may be gouging or just how they do business. SW360 for like $1000, Ruger LCRX 357 for $670. Lady standing in line literally said, what gun should I get that is still available...

3rd one was ASP Armory, 3 guns left in the entire store, no lines, PPT in 10 minutes.

This is just me, but if I didn't have any stock, I wouldn't bother opening.

DROS fees have gone up.
Most stores are not doing PPT at all.
If it was my store, I would be doing PPT at one counter, but would not want to tie up all the help doing it. If nothing left in inventory, do them all as fast as possible. JMHO........
I have guys wanting me to mail them a sticker for free, or sell them a part that isn't worth the time. I try to do it with a positive attitude, because they will remember that and come back. Not everyone thinks like that though......
Stay safe, my 2A family!

^^ I went in yesterday and told them I was doing ppt dros on a ca compliant ar rifle. She said ok to come in today with buyer and no problem. After they took our docs and inspected featureless R for compliance they quoted fees. That's when I took exception. No else was waiting. They looked like a deer in the headlights when I informed them old fees ca doj 25$ new fees 37.19. That is when they got defensive and we left/. She came up with BS that they could not verify that a featureless ar was ok to transfer and would call us back. All DOJ personnel were working from home.

Good on you for that 10 minute PPT OP.
I thought ASP has been/already was closed. One less LGS in this 2A-forsaken state.

So what happens if someone PPTs something and the shops get closed down? Wil they have to re dros it?

Not gouging. Capitalism at it's best. Gouging is when they jack up the prices of water and food or plywood during a hurricane. I even think there should be market pricing for generators and the such during emergencies. People have had years to prepare for SHTF and chose to spend their time and money elsewhere. Now they expect someone who has prepared to bail them out.

I've done a few PPTs at ASP. They are very fast, G2G.

GFOS is a joke. You would probably enjoy removing your penis more than doing anything at GFOS. Pure FUD @$$ clowns there.

TACKY, to say the least.

If I were there, I'd be tempted to shove that camera or phone up where the sun does not shine, and without lubricant.

People have to pick up their guns after the waiting period. A shop owes that service to their customers who bought firearms from them and have a pickup date.

ASP is a joke. They have like 5 guns and don’t even bother to greet customers anymore. They’re all sitting around on their phones and watching tv. It’s a ghost town, and rightly so.

GFOS at least has some guns on the rack and customers in the store. There was definitely no social distancing last time I was there.

They were happy to do our PPT when others wouldn't answer the phone or turned us away. Didn't even take that long, would have been happy to pay more to compensate them for their time. If I lived closer I might give them business. But it might have been a function of sold out guns and nothing to do...

GFOS was way overpriced, the workers were whispering how they have made millions in the past few weeks, and minutes later the owner was saying to us, "we don't make money on PPTs, why don't you go to ASP".

Guns Fishing and Other Stuff doesn't pay their workers so they act like s***heads. Even at the range, there is only one good guy ( JOE). Overpriced guns. Their ammo was cheaper than 29 Outdoor Gear though. I only buy cleaning products and pistol pouches from them. They have a better selection of some things than other stores. Would never buy a gun there. They do not care about their customers.

ASP supports the gun community. They got booted from the old location and lost the range so the owner could raise the rent and rent to a plastics company. They still are good peeps, always friendly if you aren't a douche, and have classes there. The owners are good people.

ASP is in Vacaville, Merchant Circle I think or Merchant Rd.

It's gouging. Make no mistake about it. They can try to spin it anyway they want.

GFOS are not gouging! Their prices have always been high, even on used and consignments. They have had an item I was looking for at 3 times the price anywhere else. I like buying locally but not that much of a mark up. I’ve been to both stores.

Went on Wed when they were open and had 2 guns for sale. Call before to make sure they're still open. 10 for transfer, 37 dros. At least that's what I think I heard, I was the seller so I wasn't paying that much attention.

Haha, yup. They arent gouging, they just have rediculous prices to begin with. I actually bought an unthreaded Ruger PCC from them for $499 when they first came out. Which was a fair price. But most of their guns are insanely marked up. I think they do it to try and intimidate lower working class people, they are a snobbish bunch there.

Dealer transfer fee or PPT fee? Their PPT fee is the same as anywhere in CA: $10. Of course the DROS fee is now $38. So total PPT fees will cost $48. Thats anywhere you go in CA. No dealer can charge you more than $10 for a PPT fee or $38 for a DROS.

A dealer can charge anything they want for a dealer transfer fee (you buy a gun online). But not to facilitate a PPT.

Sorry for the lack of clarity and for being somewhat off topic; I meant the transfer fee ASP charges for an online purchase. If there's new lingo I'm missing, please let me know, been out of the game awhile. Thanks!

Oh so you are referring to the dealer transfer fee. I have no idea but Im guessing at least $50. Otherwise theyd get swamped with requests. The $38 DROS would be on top of that.
