Default Stenchful gun belt

Tips for gun belt un-stank-ification?

Have tried hand-washing.

Nylon is still funky.

What make?

Bought my HSGI spanking new, and it came with no smell at all.

...oh, it didn’t come with a smell. It’s a great belt.

Is this...is this not a thing people deal with? Am I just horrifically sweaty?

I used this stuff way back when, it should work for what you're doing. May have to go a bit heavy since the belt material is thicker that a vest cover. https://www.galls.com/armorpur-body-...0aAqK1EALw_wcB
I imagine unscented Fabreze would work too.

I was going to suggest the "pet strength" Febreeze? I know of the joys of the "manly musk-y" odeur....

Yes!

Try Febreez. A little sunlight couldn't hurt either. How did you wash it? Cause I would think giving it a soak in Dawn dish detergent would help it. Could try calling the MFG too and see what they recommend.

Hand wash with hot water and Dr Bronners. Now it’s just minty and musky.

Thanks for the tip- will try Dawn and sunlight as well!

If you wear it daily- stop

Just like leather shoes- wear the belt every other day

belts are cheap enough

let it air dry-

I would think this would work and wouldn't hurt it. Nylon will mildew so using a fan to help it dry as quickly as possible is a good idea too.

I had a cat pee on my gear last year (don't ask) and found that after throwing all the gear that could be washed into the washing machine on gentle with some oxyclean and regular detergent everything came out great.

I put my competition belt with mag holders and my range bag all together in the machine then let it dry outside in the sun.

You're wearing it wrong. It's supposed to go around your waist, not under your butt.

When you say gun belt, are you referring to a battle belt, or just a nylon/webbing belt reinforced for holsters, etc? I have ruined battle belts by trying to dry them on NO heat, so don't go that route. I typically fill a bucket with Dawn, Oxyclean, and a splash of white distilled vinegar, or wash with Dawn/Oxyclean and then rinse/soak with vinegar, then dry outside if weather permits, or put it in front of a fan. Make sure that you are getting through to all the fibers, especially if it's a gun belt (not a battle belt) because of how firm they are, the fibers need some time to get that funk outta there.

Yes, reinforced nylon webbing belt.

Thank you, Jerry!

Plain ol' cheap white vinegar! It takes the STANK out of almost anything...I know it seems counter-intuitive, but try it. Soak it thoroughly for a bit, then either rinse and dry, or just let it dry.

My body scent has been likened to strawberries and wildflower honey by many a fair maiden, but for those of you more rank, try warm water with generous amounts of baking soda, a rinse, and air drip dry.

If that doesn’t work, pull out the big guns and try this:

Or maybe even this
