Where to shoot Rifles around Yucca Valley/Joshua Tree/29 Palms
Just move up here and need to let some stress off. I know there are lots of desert and hills but definately want to be shooting somewhere where I wont get in trouble. I know there is a range on the hill between YV and morongo valley, are there any BLM areas around. Also along the East side of the 29 Palms marine base there is the road that goes all the way up to amboy and the 40. there are some mountains over in there, has anyonwe done any shooting there?
If you dont want to broadcast you shooting areas please PM me, I leave an area better than I found it. Also looking for some areas to Coyote hunt once it cools off in a few months LOL

In San Bernardino County, if you stay north of the 29 Palms MC Base or east of the base, you are in a legal target rifle/pistol/shotgun area. Exceptions are the Mojave National Preserve (hunting only) and Joshua Tree National Park (no hunting or shooting). Amboy is good to go.

well went out for a few hours, kids and wife shot some .22 out of the AR conversion kit, I got my M-14S sighted in, fired a few clips out of the Garand, and fired 8 rounds of the CMP .30-06 AP out of my M-1903A3. It looks like alot of people shoot there, could use a good clean-up. Next time I go out there I'll end up hauling some of the trash out.

I know you were asking about BLM land shooting, but the 29 Palms Pistol and Rifle Club is a great place to shoot. members only and well worth the $50/year
I used to shoot BLM land all the time and this place is the next best thing |

Joshua Tree
I live within .5 mle from down town toward Yucca
there are houses everywhere People come out and are hunting Dove or just shooting with a lot higher caliber than dove shot i'm less that 1/8th mile off 62 i'm tired of arguing with them. i'm tired of asking them to leave my property only to have them argue. there IS no BLm land here. is it illegal for them to hunt here? What can be done? |

I used to shoot quite a lot on Coyote Lake, near Sunfair at the end of (dirt road) Cypress St where it runs up against the ridge. According to the map, it's technically in the shotgun only area, but people have been shooting there for decades, apparently. I discovered it when a friend who was shooting in an unauthorized area was directed there by Sheriff's deputies.
