Anonymous NRA
Short and sweet: Is there any way of getting an anonymous NRA membership? I've been a gun owner for embarrassingly far to long without a membership but prefer not to be in any data bases. Thanks guys

This is a very good question, I have met and talk to many people that don't joint because of the fact they don't want to be on another data base. I would suggest to just donate.

But you logged in to a database. Haha! Just donate or attend a friends of the NRA dinner.

Fake name somewhat similar to yours and join by money order?
Use PO box if you do not want them to have your address. Do not give them your phone number.

I'm "in the database" but never noticed anything super weird. Never get phone calls but do occasionally get letters or emails requesting money which are easily dealt with.
You can subscribe to their "do not promote" list but I don't want to miss anything important (Foundation letters, legislative updates, etc).

I'm sure there are a few thousand (or more) who think like you do, due to their jobs or other reasons they feel the need to keep their contributions private, so don't think that you are alone.
if you call the NRA, from a payphone, if you can find one : ) I'm sure they have dealt with your situation before. I know some people might make light of your situation but I feel as long as you're contributing it's a good thing & a good start. If you want to take the next step at the some point in the future your name/membership IS helpful in trying to influence politicians. Lobbyist use sentences like: " Congressman/Senator we have 982,305 active members in your district who want to vote for you if you can only help us pass this one item.." Good luck and tell us how it all works out. |

Short and sweet: No
It doesn't make sense to join a 'membership' organization and be anonymous. Half the power of association is...associating, standing up and being counted, standing together with people who hold similar values regarding the mission. Donate another way, either to NRA-ILA or NRA Foundation via Friends etc. Or...get over yourself, it's highly unlikely you're so terribly important to have to be worried about trivial things such as "being on a list." Also, this sub-forum is 'Friends of NRA' who raise funds for NRA Foundation which in turn supports shooting activities across the country, Women on Target, Youth sports, range development etc.
