Default Anyone have a Vortex Razor Red Dot - on another company's mount?

I just got the Vortex Razor sight, which comes with a Picatinny mount. I would like to try it to my Springfield XD. Vortex used to offer a XD mount, but no longer. In addition to the rail mount, the sight is packaged with a thin metal plate that has various holes in it. The manual refers to this item as a "Mounting Shim (a custom adapter plate) when adapting the Razor to specialized red dot bases from other companies."

So what other mounts will the Razor work with? And how does the shim work? The shim seems to be too thin to do any kind of adapting.
