I just picked up my XDS out of dros last night and I plan to put some rounds down range with it. I was fully aware of the possible double fire that might happen. That's called research before you buy so you see what others are experiencing. I am sure Springfield will figure out how to do right by California residence whether it be shipping the part to us to have a gunsmith install it or let us ship it back and they fix it. Until then people just need to calm down and let the problem work itself out.

Again... Springfield Armory's own Custom Shop, PRP and Springer Precision confirmed it needs to go back to SA. Good luck on getting them to ship it back to you if you're not a cop. It's not like this is just stuff made up on the internet, some of us have called and confirmed the problems of SA shipping a non-rostered gun back to CA. Instead of guessing, people need to call for themselves.

Shenaniguns: his point and advice to current owners is to calm down, have some patience, and let springfield work it out. Just because you and a few other people didn't get the final word a few days after the recall doesn't mean it isn't getting sorted out. . I have one of these guns, and I've read this whole thread. They are working it out.

Update: Couldn't cancel my package... it got grouped in with the 2500+ other packages going to SA this morning... I guess I'm just going to ride it out....

Awesome!! Glad they made the right decision.

You wouldn't happen to have a name for future reference would you?

Thanks.

@shenaniguns ... was it "Lexi" that called you? I've been on my phone all morning and haven't been able to take any other calls. That's great news and thank you for posting!

confirmed, received my call at 10:30am PDT. SA will FedEx back to the "registered owners address" and must be received by 21 year or older, signature required. They will be sending back to CA.

Question: If my LGS was planning on shipping it back for me after taking delivery today, should I decline and send it myself? I ask because of the above post stating it must go back to the registered owners address.

Good to hear they should be shipping back to us. Has anyone been told how long of a turn around to expect?

I know alot of you hurried to get in line but I'm going to wait until October to ship mine. I figured that I can shoot other stuff until then. If your XDs is your EDC then I can see why not wait. By October they should be somewhat caught up and the QA will have improved. Good Luck to all!!

Like I thought would happen. Some patience pays off. Going to the range tomorrow to put some rounds in before I send it away as well as put some round through my Sigp225. Range time hear I come.

@ Dude with a gun.....

Do you have the name of the person who called you back and confirmed with you that springfield will be shipping back to CA. Just for reference purpose. Thanks.

Make sure you put a packing label inside your box. People on the XD forum are saying FedEx has lost some packages already because the shipping labels fell off.

Dropped mine off at FedEx this morning. Took all of about 30 seconds. Lets hope it makes the trip both directions OK.

Dropped my xds 45 off today but not before I took it to the range to shoot it for the first time. I put about 20 rounds 230grn Winchester white box, 25 rounds 185grn Federal practice rounds and 5 rounds 185grn Speer gold dot defense hollow points through it no issues. Then I cleaned it and send her on her way. Sad to see her go lol.

Sent mine off today. Hopefully have it back in the next month, Springfield sure made it easy to ship so that was really nice.

Don't get your hopes up on a month turn around. Keep checking the SA website for updates. Doesn't sound like they were prepared for this at all. Check out the threads on X-D Talk forum. Maybe by Christmas if we are lucky.

Current projection is 10-12 weeks. It's pretty frustrating to have a permit to carry a weapon that you don't even have in your possession.

Any news on whether updated XDs will get in the supply channels so I can pick one up before Jan 1?

Just spoke to Jason at Springfield -- about 45 sec. on hold. He said the time frame has been extended to 8-10 weeks and they have no way to track an individual gun in the queue.

Best to just be patient. Mine went out on Aug. 31.

Hearing that XDs are 'junk', I guess I better sell my other 6 (about 120,000 rounds down range between all of them).

I guess I better close my business also, since I specialize in customizing XDs.

wonder if Walmart is hiring greeters...

Update from Springfield Armory today, direct from the recall FAQ page:

Quote:
Why it's taking so long:
We pledge to you that we are working as fast as we can, and have greatly increased our staff and number of shifts to ensure that we are leveraging every hour in the day.

We understand that our decision to announce a voluntary safety recall without a final solution in place has caused confusion and frustration. We sincerely apologize for that inconvenience. However, your safety is, and always has been, our paramount concern. And that is why we decided to issue the voluntary safety recall before we had a guaranteed upgrade solution in place.

Our decision not to wait was based on putting you, our customer, first. Some companies build in several weeks of lead time before announcing their recalls. But, we didn't feel that was the most responsible approach in this case since our priority is your safety.

Please know that we are committed to resolving this matter as quickly as possible and we are committed to ensuring that you will be very pleased with your upgraded 3.3 XD-S™. As a reminder, do not use your 3.3 XD-S™ until the upgrade has been performed.
Sounds like we won't be getting these back anytime soon.

Wonder if it has anything to do with firing pin damage like this...

Maybe it could peen enough to wedge itself in the forward/extended position.
