Ship the repair parts to an authorized SA gunsmith. They fix our XD's and SA pays for the labor. Problem solved, everyone is happy and life goes on. Case closed. It's that simple.

So why does two XD shops and the custom shop say that it needs to go back to SA? So it's NOT that simple.

So what is involved with the repair? If SA can fix it I am sure there are SA dealers/gunsmiths in Ca. that can do the work. Just trying to understand the process.

Doesn't matter if they don't send out the parts.

It doesn't make sense for them not to ship the parts. I can understand if there is machining involved but just replacing 1,2 or 3 parts is very basic. Time will tell.

Liability issue. I don't think they want to be held responsible if the parts are not installed correctly. Plus I'm sure they want there own people to QC and function test the job done.

What's the liability issue if they refuse to fix a gun that needs to be shipped back to Cali?

it wasnt for anything major, and you could test it yourself to see if it needed repair.

Having the gun shipped back to Cali is a whole other issue. On my box, it specifically says, "not for California sale". Even though most of us had obtained it through the SSE process. Either way.. We just have to suck it up and see what happens with the owners who had already sent there's in. In the mean time, I'm holding on to mine. |

Only because they won't pay the "EXTORTION" fee to the State of Kommiefornia for them to say it is "Safe".

Oh the drama. Never fails. You've got people who sold theirs with no dog in the fight still stirring the pot.
I will send mine in to SA and they will ship it back, like they did with another Off Roster gun I had worked on by the SACS. And life will go on. |

Lol.. You're right! Way to early to have gotten rid of it. It seems like SA doesn't know wut protocol to go by right now. Lots of mixed stories from different members getting different answers. It'll suck to have sold it because of this and SA ends up making it right. |

I believe it's because there's no magazine disconnect, and therefore cannot be put on the Roster - Not because they won't pay the fees...

And that makes it unsafe only in Calif? I guess the other 49 states have less safe guns. Not to hijack the thread but everyone knows the intent of the roster. Limit what we can buy and extort as much money as possible from the manufactures. A blued version is OK but the exact same model in stainless is not because it wasn't tested. Apply this same non-logic to the automotive industry and see the fallout. You can sell the red and green model but not the evil "Black" model. It wasn't tested and you didn't pay our fee. Our fine government at work.

If you're referring to me, I'm providing information as I get it due to requests via PM. Especially since I do work for a dealer and have sold a bunch of XDs' personally. No stirring from me, but you seem to be calling me a liar for my experience with SA.

Nope, not at all. Would be nice if this thread stayed pertinent, instead of Springfield fans vs non-springfield fans. That way it doesn't turn into 7 pages of nonsense. A lot of people will likely be checking back here to see what the status is.

obviously just sitting and waiting now. the frustration level is hard to keep in check. from a business standpoint, the recall should have been done with the answers ready; it can't be a 'shock' that there are CA owners that would need to send in for repair. not having already figured out what to tell owners is a huge miss on SA part. even if this all turns out to be FUD, look how much time several of us (including me) have wasted. also could have sent my gun in day one and had it back that much quicker. no its not the worst thing in life, but these types of situations which are so easily avoidable by simply thinking through the different scenarios and being prepared.
mild rant over, here's hoping that by Tuesday we at least get some confirmation. |

I received mine through an intra familial transfer. So I decide to send it in and they dont send it back then what? I decide to not send it in, it malfunctions, maims or kills me or someone else then what does SA have to say about that? I would like to know.

I'm sure people are getting bent out of shape because pistols were bought legally and it's a safety recall which springfield is deciding whether to give a damn about the public's safety with accidental and double discharges.

Just found out mine is on the recall list for 9mm Also anyone that bought there XDs 9mm from RIFLEGEAR and had it shipped to OC Armory is more than likely to be on the list.
Also question for anyone that shipped out there gun in California using FEDEX did you just drop off the package with a live person and get a receipt showing the drop off? The reason I am asking this is because I tried to ship out a gun FEDEX couple of months ago and they said they do not ship guns in CA any more.

After a holiday weekend, SA should be real busy tomorrow. We should all flood them with calls regarding the recall and misguided information given. This will let them know that there are a crap load of pissed of xds owners in California.

I agree SA should definitely fix our pistols. But people are already making decisions or jumping to conclusions before we have all of the information. Let SA have a few days to sort out our screwy CA laws, they've never had a problem sending off roster pistols back after custom shop or warranty work before. At the very least they should be able to send through an FFL.
