AR Pistol ---> Assault Weapon Registration
I was hoping to get some clarification regarding registering a pistol as an assault weapon.
The pistol is a Sig 556 SWAT Pistol. I understand that one can not make the pistol a "featureless pistol," thus it has to be registered as an assault weapon or remove the evil feature (mainly a removable magazine). So is it correct that if I decide not to register, I can comply in 2017 with using BB Reloaded or ARMagLock?? I am wondering what my options are since I prefer the ARMagLock, but it might not be feasible since it's not a true "AR pattern lower." I prefer the ARMagLock because it looks like it's less of a hassle to remove when I'm in a free state than the BB Reloaded. If registered as an assault weapon, would one be able to use the Sig Brace? Or will it still be a grey area like it is currently in 2016? Any other suggestions regarding complying with new laws in 2017 for a Sig 556 Pistol would be welcomed. With Assault weapons, what are rules for storage and transportation? I know about not being able to lend the weapon without my presence, or leave for a gunsmith if they don't have an assault weapons permit, or not being able to sell or transfer in CA, etc. |

If it can be disassembled without splitting the upper, it's not legal. That is ASSUMING that either product is considered legal... we won't know until there is an arrest and a test case. Quote:
BATFE is good with it as long as it is not shouldered. Of course, CaDOJ has not issued any opinions. Quote:
You can not keep a RAW in your trunk 24/7. Storage is a more touchy subject. If it is not registered to any members of your household, they must not be able to access the gun when not in your immediate presence. It MAY be possible to register multiple adults at the same residence... this was possible in 2000, but we do not know if it will be allowed this time. If not, then they need to be locked in a safe that no other resident has the combination to, or they must be in a locked container that no other resident has access to.

Further, there are federal SBR laws and state CA laws and separate authorities that determine what is legal. In CA, we have to comply with both.

But their goal is to hope that you stumble into a felony.
