Just do the 30sf, that's what I do myself, I wouldn't 'create a 30s' with the 30 using 36 slide, since it's a specified firearm on the ccw, although I do have both individually on my ccw

My choice
Glock 26. You can shoot it about as well as a G19 and it's smaller. I shot it in an all day training sessions taught by some ex navy seals down in San Diego. The rest of the class were all shooting mid sized and full sized guns and I shot as well, accurately etc as they did. There is a little velocity loss with a shorter barrel but according to the FTA guys at Raahauge's, the Glock 26 acquits itself as the best of the compact guns in actual shootings (vs let's say a snub .38)

I doubt it would be a problem. Lots of people have replacement slides on their CCW weapons. Slides crack, scar, blow up, etc. It's a replaceable part just like a barrel. The frame is legally the gun.

I used mine for EDC for about two years, then my IA changed its policy and declared no SSE guns. That has now morphed into no off roster guns, so no more P938.
However, when I carry in a free state, the P938 is still my go to gun. Small, accurate and reliable. I swapped the grips on mine for Hogue grips and it still works as a pocket pistol for me. Great CCW gun. |

Have you ever shot a Glock 30? The recoil is so bad its laughable and intolerable. I dare say the Glock 30 is the second worst pistol I've ever shot, only behind the Glock 36. There will always be the holdout critic for the compact .45 vs 9mm but physics don't lie. You can get 3 9mm rounds on target from a G26(much smaller gun) in the amount of time it would take you to get 1 .45 on target from a 30 or 36. Combine that with the effectiveness of modern 9mm ammo, whats the point?

I normally carry the Shield, but the 36 is an occasional weekend carry. The gun that I've decided will not go on my permit is the M&P340. 357 or 38spl, I just can't shoot that snubbie worth a damn. I might reconsider the SP101, but it's a freaking tank and I'd rather keep the 36.

I use mine for everything from grocery shopping to backcountry hiking. An added bonus over the G30, besides having 2x the awesomeness , is that the 10rd mag is actually flush-fit, whereas the G30 flush-fit magazine is only 9rd (the 10rd has a taller baseplate). And there's a cartridge for every occasion! Probably the widest variety of ammo out of all the handgun calibers. Everything from cheap .40 short&weak ball ammo, to 115gr copper slugs, to 185gr hollowpoints, to 220gr hardcast. It's like the .30-06 of the pistol world And the G29 will eat whatever you feed it! Also it's not that expensive anymore, don't let the "Don't shoot 10mm unless you reload" naysayers tell you otherwise. Besides that, my 2nd choice for a 10rd CCW pistol would be a G26, which is a great pistol even if the ammo is missing a millimeter

P2000sk - no change
Walther PPS - no change Added Glock 30SF, sent to Tactical Texture and Triggers for frame work, with Trijicon HD sights. G19 with 15+1 used to be an option. Now, for the size of the G19, I'll carry the 45 instead with 10+1. |

Glock 27 with a 1 (advertised as 2) round mag extender. 10+1 .40 cal in a very small package. Want something smaller? Ditto anything Kahr.

You should probably use the gun that you shoot best. My XDS 3.3 45 ACP is much more accurate than my G17C. This regardless of the fact that the G17c is Compensated. Whatever gun you choose, shoot it first. I can't hit the side of a barn with an M&P. They suck, to me. Shooting the bullseye completely out of a target with the XDS is child's play, to me. |

There's as many different theories on what to carry as there are guns, so YMMV. As for how I came to my selections, I first narrowed it to the guns that have a 10 round maximum capacity by default - my thinking here was why I needed to accept an artificial limit imposed by the state? If I was going to carry something limited to ten rounds, then the available space to hold those rounds should be maximized; otherwise I'm carrying air/space at the detriment of concealability.
Out of the guns I had, it came down to either the Ruger LCR, HK45, Commander 1911, a full-size 1911, or a Smith & Wesson 629 (7.5" barrel); everything else were designed with 10< capacity, but limited to 10 rounds. Obviously, the S&W is out, and I wasn't too keen on the 5 round limit on the LCR. I also looked at the HKP2000SK, the S&W Shield, and the SIG p238. I'm limited to three per my issuing authority, so I picked one eat each size - the pocket P238, the "subcompact" HKP2000SK since it had the same controls and some parts overlap with my HK45, and my HK45. I guess the silver lining is that you have to purchase a new firearm every time you renew? But I'm not particularly enamored with any of the remaining choices on the roster. Maybe we'll all eventually carry single action revolvers like 130 year ago.

If you have to shoot someone that means your life was in danger. How much is your life worth? Ok never mind how much your life is worth, if this gun is taken as evidence it means you are going to trial, you will need a lawyer that is about $400 per hr. I don't know about you, but $400hr buys me a **** ton of guns. So when you think about it, loosing the gun is the cheapest part and the least of your worries of the whole ordeal. |

My current 3 are two 19's and a 43, one of my 19's will be cut to accept 26 mags.

As much as you hear the statement about losing a gun to "evidence" being an illegitimate concern, there is always the guy like you who doesn't think there's any merit to it. The fact is that it is a legitimate concern and you're not really thinking about it within the context of the whole picture. I wish guys like you would stop complaining about it since you obviously make "zero sense". Let me break it down for you: Most guys on CG and even other prominent gun forums agree that universally the best pistol for self defense by far is the Glock 17. There is no other handgun that has the same track record in terms of history and reliability with the added bonus of it being DIRT CHEAP to buy new. I have one and it is definitely not my favorite handgun. I grew accustomed to shooting my M&Ps in both self-defense and competition use but I will never deny the confidence the Glock 17 instills. If I were to lose my M&P to evidence it would be a bummer since I can't get a new one here in this state because of the roster but nonetheless it is worth my life losing it to the police. That's not to say that I wouldn't hesitate to use my expensive 1911's or my Wilson Beretta or even my CZ that has Cajun upgrades if my life or my loved ones were in severe danger and that's the only thing I had at hand. Of course I would use them but those are not the guns that I have designated as my defense guns. Here's another example: my dad owns a 3 inch blue colt Python that he keeps telling me he's going to give me or I will eventually just inherit. I would never use that in self-defense unless I absolutely had to and the answer is pretty clear why. It isn't just its dollar value in this case... it's the first major purchase my dad made right when he came to this country and served his time in the marines. That gun will have a special meaning to me forever. I won't be shooting dirt bags with it unless we enter a post apocalyptic world where I can also kill zombies. If I had the capability to conceal carry in this crappy *** state, I would carry either Glocks ,M&Ps or even a S&W J-frame (mostly due to weight and me being lazy ) but I wouldn't hesitate to carry a nice compact 1911 (EMP, etc) but I also I wouldn't carry a Supergrade Wilson. Anyway, I think guys with extensive collections and the enthusiast type would easily agree with me but I also think the opposite of these guys (the guy that owns one handgun and one shotgun) can see the reasoning here.

HK 45 - exactly 10rd mags - highly reliable metal mags in a military pedigree pistol.
Springfield 1911's (especially Professional Model) - 8rd but you can top off with reliable 10rd mags. It's ultra-precise placement of shots. DD

I carry the G27 (40 S&W). It holds 9 in the mag and one in the tube. Need more, carry an extra mag. Nice concealable package and reasonably light to carry. It is a work horse that is flawless.
