odd question about wallyworld and ammo?
OK, I know this might be a odd question BUT,
I live about equal distance from two different Wal-Mart's; One being Long Beach and the other Lakewood. I've read that they have ammo at one or both and talk to folks that say wal-mart has it. My problems I've never been able to find at either, I've walk the aisles a bunch of times, asked sales staff, even ask a store assistant managers at both stores! All I got was a dumb stare and I don't know from one and all. * the 64 dollar question is: which store has any ammo and where in the he!! is the ammo located in the store........if they really carry it??? Have fun folks! |

Long Beach and Lakewood are FAR Left Cities. I doubt they allow ammo sales.
The Wallies that have ammo sell it in the sporting goods dept. Try other cities.

If it's like the Walmarts up here in my area, it will be in a cabinet behind the register. But, if they do sell ammo, it will be in the Sporting Goods section. Happy hunting!

Long Beach and Lakewood do not carry ammunition. With Walmart, it's hit or miss (no pun intended), and as someone referenced based on city ordinance. Locally, Huntington Beach does carry, and up the 605, I believe Norwalk.
Before I started reloading, I knew every one in a 20 mile radius that sold, but that was long ago. |

Just need to locate the key master, which took me 30 min last time because apparently no one knows who is supposed to work the sporting good section...

I talked to a few managers at the Walmarts near me and they said theyre selling ammo next year. But not sure about the following year. I'm stopping by Encinitas during lunch break since I'm in the area. Hope they have something good.

Walmart isnt a great deal anymore, most isnt priced cheaply like it once was. Plus, for the most part it is ***** ammo that they carry. Greater deals are found online shipped to your door all day, everyday.

When stopping in for supplies whenever i travel in the state of california i have seen some carry reloading supplies and equipment, some sell firearms, some sell only ammo, and some sell none of the above.

I use to be a fan of going to Walmart for Ammo. Over the past year or so I've almost completely stopped going there. Between the not so great prices and trying to find someone with the magical key to open the ammo case, it's not worth it.
I frequent sgammo now. |

Wally World is an odd place so most questions about it are odd. The Poway & Escondido (San Diego County) Wally Worlds carry ammo. All the ammo is in locked case behind the counter in the Sporting Goods section. Only certain employees are allowed to access it.

not having any is not the same as not selling it. the store on Technology keeps it for employees while the store on Von Karmann sticks to a one box limit. got some mini-mags there in June.

I only look in Wal-Mart for Perfecta 38 special 158 grain (about $15.50 a box of 50), Federal aluminum 9mm and 45 acp (about $10 and $16 a box of 50) and matbe WWB hollow point 147 grain 9mm (about $22 a box of 50). That is it; otherwise the prices are not competitive anymore.

I live around the corner from one and shop there for other stuff (like groceries). I used to chase ammo at the couple of Walmarts, Big5s, and Turners around me. I stopped that when I discovered Gunbot and Ammoseek.
Now it's almost all Freedom Munitions and SGAmmo. I did buy a few boxes of Federal 115gr 9mm for under $25/box of 100 (plus tax) at the local WM, a week ago. I figured that wasn't a total rip for factory new ammo in a cash deal. |

Thanks all1
I think I'll stick with turners and Ammo Brothers............by what everyone says their just as good and they generally have what I want. On top of that, their not a bunch of "doofuss" like people at Wally world. |

Cerritos has a good amount in stock every time I stop and look...I never buy there anymore since I reload and it's expensive there. I was looking for some .223 since I don't reload that, but those are always out.
