Default Roster question regarding Kimber.. i'm irritated

So, many Kimbers are on roster by name (Stainless Raptor II, TLE Stainless II etc), but list NO model number. The Stainless Raptor II is listed with NO Kimber factory model number, yet when you go to Kimber's website they list a 3200181 AND a 3200181CA, and it's the same gun. The TLE (non rail) Stainless II is listed by name, but no model number on the roster, but a) Kimber doesn't show that new one in their CA APPROVED section, and b)online vendors don't label it as CA approved. Doesn't an FFL just have to abide by the verbatim description that's on the roster, or are these model numbers with "CA" at the end necessary to DROS?? I have spoken to 2 FFL's today that I regularly use, and neither had an answer.

Good FFLs will stick to the letter of the law and the letter of the roster, and not try to interpret, read between the lines, or project some extra hassle that isn't there.

When in doubt buy what your LGS has in stock and will transfer to you.

If there is a roster issue that pops up after you have your new gun the problem is on the LGS not you.

It does seem to me that a simple cosmetic change making a weapon illegal to sell in CA is infringement. Not that the whole roster is any better.

Basically the 2016 TLE Stainless II now has a stainless barrel and G10 grips, and the 2015 and below has carbon steel barrel and plastic grips. I want the 2016 because of the barrel, as I live near the ocean.

If there is no SKU then a handgun can be anything that the FFL is willing to call it.

It's an LGS question. Go to the store and ask what they will transfer. Whether they are right or wrong, if they refuse you can't do much. Similarly, if they transfer it to you, they are on the hook if they entered the incorrect or ineligible model.
