Ummm can't any FFL offer off roster guns for sale, no? .. It's just us, the second class citizen who can't buy them...

Now if they are offering them for sale to us, the second class citizen... And you buy one, have a nice time in jail with them...

It sounds like they are offering more than that, according to my presumption after reading this from their website:

It would be the FFL who would have legal issues, and likely lose their license if the sale was unauthorized . . . not the buyer.

"Effective January 1, 2001, no handgun may be manufactured within California, imported into California for sale, lent, given, kept for sale, or offered/exposed for sale unless that handgun model has passed firing, safety, and drop tests and is certified for sale in California by the Department of Justice. Private party transfers, curio/relic handguns, certain single-action revolvers, and pawn/consignment returns are exempt from this requirement."

I believe we've heard about this before.

Let's wait and see how it shakes out. Like many who already have posted, I find myself doubting it can work.

Default Off Roster Guns LLC bring in off roster handguns??

Just saw this on FaceBook. They're saying their plan is to sell handguns on Indian reservations to bypass California's laws including the 10 day wait. I'll be interested in how this turns out.

Federal laws (Public Law 83-280)...

CA Penal Codes apply to and are enforced on Tribal lands located in California.

A FFL on Tribal lands in California must comply with Federal laws/regulations and CA laws/regulations.

Lots of these threads, all closed.

Kindly post no more until that business has an actual presence and an FFL. New threads, in any forum, will be deleted.

And, THIS IS NOT A HANDGUN TOPIC - it doesn't belong in this forum.

It's a GUN STORE topic (whose premise is some special access to some handguns), so would go to General Gun Discussions. The long thread there is http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s....php?t=1203352

Default Off Roster Guns - Anyone?

Anyone seen this yet?

Off Roster Guns (ORGuns) is a unique firearms consulting agency that specializes in the California market. The extreme anti-gun culture of the State's government is reflected in the oppressive handgun laws forced onto its law abiding citizens. One of the most restrictive laws is California's "Safe Handgun" law, which allows the California Department of Justice to decide for YOU which handguns it thinks you should be able to own. The harsh reality is that these laws do not increase the safety of California handgun owners, but instead infringe upon their lawful right to keep and bear arms.

With your help this is about to change...

I would say "dupe" but these threads always get nuked, so it's not really a dupe... or won't be for long.

This has been floating for a couple of years. Some guy seems to think he can effectively straw-purchase on Indian land under Federal law, then magically claim California residency to PPT to his customers.

Looks like the web page has been redesigned (again)

Whole business plan is based on being able to avoid California Law by selling guns on the Indian Reservations. Sounds great until you find out the Indian Reservations have signed a deal with California where all state laws apply on the Reservations.

So basically it is a total scam but feel free to send them some $$ if you want.

We had all seen this site before and called BS the moment it came out plus maybe most know this but looks like the site finally went down www.offrosterguns.com but their instagram is still up https://www.instagram.com/offrosterguns/?hl=en so anyone know any news on this place? I wondering about all those poor fools who gave money to this scammer and if anything might be done.

Their last IG post was from April ...

Considering IG hosts the content, unless ORGunns, LLC deactivates the page, IG will continue to keep it up unlike a website that requires hosting fees that probably haven't gotten paid since the initial "6 months for $30" or whatever they paid when they started.

Interested to hear from anyone who gave them a couple bucks.

Too bad it didn't work. We need all the methods we can get.

Back before the depression there was a guy who offered shares in his Oil well for $1 each. thousands and thousands apparently replied.

When the authorities investigated he in fact showed them his oil well. A 10 foot hole in his back yard which he dug a little deeper each day.

These people brought that to mind.

I never saw them asking for money. Wasn't it supposed to be based on the idea of Indian law, the same laws that govern casinos in California? I don't think it was an outlandish idea, but probably too much red tape and not enough backing. If it had the backing of any of the big wigs that setup Casinos, I'm sure more would have come of it. As much as people in CA would buy off roster guns, there is no where near the profit with that compared with the money made setting up and running Casinos.

Not that many people read the small print (terms of service) and some of the people that don't read it are gullible enough to believe fantastical things they see on the internet, so they end up making "pre-orders".

Part of their announcement was that they would be willing to accept "pre-orders".

The "pre-order" equated to half the MSRP of the off-Roster pistol you wanted plus a $50 service fee. This reserved the off-Roster pistol for you and "guaranteed" you would be one of the first to have their order fulfilled. (fine print = no refunds)

The idea was Tribal lands are considered Federal lands, so State laws don't apply.

The idea was crushed by Federal laws (Public Law 83-280, 1953) which basically states that all CA criminal laws (CA Penal Code) applies to Tribal lands located in CA.

Which means, a FFL that is set up on Tribal lands located within CA must comply with all Federal laws/regulations and all CA laws/regulations.

Bottom line...
There was no way what they were pitching would be legally possible.

The one thing I can say is if there was a legal way to buy any off roster gun without having to pay a mark up from someone who already owns one, do an out of state family transfer (don't have a parent out of state) or work for a federal law enforcement agency I would of done it. I checked their site once or twice a month for updates but just found it defunked.
