Default My just completed Jim Hoag Colt

Attachment 302850

Attachment 302852

Attachment 302854

Attachment 302855I just picked this up from Jim last week. It works great and looks pretty good to me. I gave him a well used pre series 80commander. It had previously been "customized" by a unknown smith. This is what came back. I wish I had taken some pics before. There just is no comparison.

Very cool...how does she shoot? Jim did some work on a S70 GM for me back in the early 1980s...it still was one of the best pistols I've shot to this day.

Great gun! Thanks for sharing.

Can you provide details on what Mr. Hoag did? Also, how long did the project take for him to finish?

Thanks,

Thanks,
He fit A Kart barrel and bushing, checkered it, Refinished it, installed a Novak rear sight, his own front sight and beaver tail. He also did a trigger job and lowered and flared the ejection port. He also had to weld up some of the other "smiths" attempt at notching the trigger guard. He had it for about 3 months.

Glad to hear Jim is still working. He worked on a Colt of mine about 3-4 years ago and that guy is a fossil. Did great work for me though.

Jim fitted a Kings ported barrel, ECW bushing, lowered and flared the ejection port, throated/ramped barrel, new safety, S&A mainspring housing w/ magwell, and parked the whole gun. She is a shooter!

His reliability packages remain legendary, in addition to his hard-fitment of various components. Oddly enough, he just hand-checkered a MSH for my brother in 30LPI recently, and it was flawless.

I still feel fortunate to have him locally.
