Sonoma NRA dinner
Sonoma Friends had a "idea" to invite only past participants and jacked the price up to boot .Now they have to advertise in the Press Democrat to get people to attend

Oh that's sad to hear.... That's one reason I never been a fan nor member of the NRA... They appear to be for our 2A rights.. but always at a price... They are just like every other corporate entity... $$$$$

Corporate greed. Even the NRA president, CEO, COO, etc. want to get paid way more than the average employee. Profit is not a dirty word, but greed is.
http://www.sourcewatch.org/index.php...t_Expenditures It is reported that NRA CEO Wayne LaPierre made over $900,000 a year, circa 2007. [2] |

You don't want a fry cook from McDonalds in charge of a multi-million dollar company.

At a price? No way, tell me it ain't so!
Doing what they do is not cheap, it all cost money. And if you are not a NRA member (directed at second poster) then I don't ever want to hear you *****ing about anti 2A gun laws! |

The politicians charge thousands of dollars per plate for compaign funds and people that can afford to attend for what they feel is a good cause.
What do you think he NRA has been doing? Time out cry babies and go sit in a corner.

I say good job Wayne and Co! The people who complain about petty crap the NRA does and and the fundraising remind me of the girl in school who tells her parents she is staying home because the popular kids ignore her. If you don't like the NRA, join another group or start your own. Sitting it out and pouting is handing victory to the other side and is exactly what they want. They know they won't convert you, they just know they can make you forfeit. Don't let them out smart you.

I'd say that's a pretty reasonable salary for what he does and considering his mission is of the utmost importance. If 2a falls, ALL the rest fall.

Back in the days it was a good thing, now it's just about salaries. One should visit the Whittington center at least once and get a good feel for what's really going on, make sure to visit the employee parking lot while your there as well..

No NRA = NO guns. I have been around long enough to say the NRA is doing better than ever protecting your rights to keep and bear arms.

A new perspective - if you've been sending out invites to people and got no response save that dollar toward your cause and drop the non participants from your list. Holding your meal at a hotel? Expect $45-50 a plate. Don't forget to add a little to each meal to cover the free meal you'll be giving your guest speaker and his wife. Probably another one or two for the manufacturers rep that put together the deal to get you a nice gun for your bidding or drawing. Hope you make the bar minimum or you'll have to ante up a little more at the end of the evening.
I wouldn't baby sit 5,000,000 members for less than $1 each - yep easy math 5mil a year. LaPeirre is doing it for less than 20 cents a head - kudos. |

Its worth adding your name to the membership roster for the basic dues. They are a force that pisses off the anti gunners and gets the attention of lawmakers for now by the pure membership numbers, although not Ideal. I just don't like being solicited for next years dues the month after I renew. It takes a lot of money and lawyering to mount a constant push-back effort.

Insurance companies lose money when you get sick. The NRA probably pulls more donations when dems attack, but it only has one objective to my knowledge. Preserve 2A. The NRA exists only because libs and commies continue to do what they can to erode our rights. HaHa? Nope. |

Make no mistake in thinking my post is anti NRA, far from it, I'm a lifer . Anyone who owns a gun should be too.The NRA is our biggest lobby in D.C. If you have a gun don't bash the NRA (kind of like dissing farmers when you have a mouthful of food)
carry on.

I would do it but I don't think there are many willing to put themselves in such situations. He gets death threats, his family and himself is under constant attack, his name/family name has been dragged through hell and back, he is constantly being bad mouthed and compared to a less evil DEVIL all while having to defend your point of view as well as trying to keep 5 million members satisfied who ALL think they have a direct line to Wayne who MUST satisfy their needs and theirs alone otherwise its a big FU to the NRA. So many idiots in this world and the NRA and gun owners are not immune to it. |

To the OP, to my knowledge, Friends of the NRA events are put on by volunteers who wish to help raise money and awareness for the NRA and its endeavors. They are not controlled by the NRA. Think of them as "booster clubs." So, if you have a problem with how a particular "Friends" group is operating, you should take it up with the leadership of that group. I do not mean to minimize your dispute, just wanted to direct your focus to the proper entity.
To all others who are claiming the NRA does nothing with your money in California, the NRA spends more money in California than it take in from here. Besides having a full time lobbyist with a team in Sacramento, and a team handling local grassroots activities, here is what the NRA has had our firm do in the last few years for its California members:http://www.calgunlaws.com/wp-content...lishments1.pdf |

I am a life member and have been paying off my memberhship on their payment plan. Sorry to say that I paid full price and now they offer lifetime memberships for $300.
With that said, I will continue to pay until finished, but the NRA will not get another dollar from me either through events, store purchases and will not pay for my boys memberships.

What are your rights worth. I have not bought any new guns for many years though I have spent lots of money for what I believe is right. Sometimes it really pays off.
