How can you call that a group when there's all those other shots on the target?
You don't get to just grab 3 randomly touching holes and call them a group.

Go shoot a clean group, maybe somthing like this:

That's with my 10-22 at 88yds.
9 rounds in 0.502" with 10 rounds going to 0.95" measured with Autocad at 1600x magnification.

Wow that is a fine looking rifle. Very innovative design. I like the very tactical look. I am assuming this is OK to own in PRK without having to modify anything since it is a bolt action with limited round mag.

well if my firend wasnt shooting at the same target as i i guess i wouldnt have as many random holes. Luckily he is a fairly bad shot. you can disbelive me all you want i know what i shot.

And here's my AR-15

Ian, well, duh. For FFL transfers I like having you guys do that. It'll be probably 6 months or so before it happens but you'll have it on your hands for a little (maybe an hour) over 10 days once it ships.

I haven't put it on a scale but it sure isn't a light weight!

Without the USO scope or with a lighter one (Leupold Mark4 3.5-10x40mm) it isn't too bad.

haha
my beard takes up some of the slack and provides a cushion.

the stock has an adjustable cheek piece, lowered to facilitate insertion of the bolt.
info on the scope/mount:
it's a leatherwood/hi-lux camputer. it ships mounted on the rings and a base that mounts to the picatinny rail - and yeah, it's higher than my brother-in-law; thankfully, the adjustable cheek on the stock goes real high.
the scope "appears" to be pretty good (at 250 yds) contrary to most comments i have seen here and elsewhere. (with blue locktite in certain places)

Default Finally able to contribute!

So thanks to all of the knowledgable members' input and the lurking I've done around here, this is phase one of project Remington 700. It's clearly a work in progress and I've got some issues to work out while determining my preferences. Most notably the scope rings and mounts. They fit strangely and while it looks funky, there was no other feasible positioning that wouldn't interefere with the bolt camming or ejection of rounds. I think I'll be going back to my Valdada 1-pc. and buy some new mounts...something a little more sturdy. Anyone interested in some gently used Leupold high rings and mounts?

Any input is appreciated...I'm still a newb.

The rifle is a Rem 700, 26" barrel, chambered in 7mm-08, originally in a Varmint SPS stock (now for sale!). The scope is a Nikon Monarch 6-24x50 which, for the money, has been a sweet scope. It's been laid in a B&C Medalist Tactical Adjustable stock. No trigger/action/or barrel work yet, another reason I didn't shoot the business side of the rifle...no tactical knob yet either.

Future plans include a new trigger, I don't care much for the factory Remington compared to some other folks' competition rigs I've shot. I'd also like to go to town on the action, new knob etc. I've been toying with the idea of a muzzle brake but I'd like to understand more about it's disadvantages (besides parting the hair of the guy next to you at the range).

Anyway, thanks again Calguns, here's to another project.
