I am in, PM on the way..

I have a CGN t shirt, I can help with setup, take down as well. I have to work from 7pm to 11pm however, but I am free both days.

A am not a great public speaker or salesperson, but I will do my best to educate the masses who come by on OLLs and firearms laws, which I consider myself fairly knowledgable.

Order Up!

Please let me know if there are any schedule conflicts. Everything is tentative at this point. Soon I will make another for needed supplies and "visuals". Cheers!

I didn't realize I'd abstained on the wrong date.

I *CAN* make the Sep 19/20 Cowpie show for 1/2 day + ... probably on Sat.

Plus I can harass Bill Strong for selling a nice 45.

what is expected of a volunteer? I know I am new and not extremely knowledgeable about guns but would be interested in learning out how to help out sometime in the future. As long as my only costs to volunteer is my time and gas to get there.

I need to get shirt sizing info for everyone that is planning to volunteer at the booth.

Calguns polo shirts are available and will cost $20 for volunteers, and a t-shirt is free for volunteers.

I am in, I second the question about badges and passes. Do I have to pay for parking or whatever?

Also, I am really hoping to bring my AR for show off, let me know.

I'm not certain if admission is covered for all volunteers this time (should be, I'll PM information on that to volunteers when they confirm), but parking is typically something you still have to cover yourself.

You will have to pay for your own parking and entrance into the show. No one has told me otherwise, and thats what has been done at the other ones Ive worked. You do not need a badge, just come on in and mosey on over to the booth.

About shirts: If you already have a CGN shirt, by all means wear it. The dress code will be professional and presentable, but not fancy. For reference, Ill be in a blue CGN Polo and a nice pair of jeans. I am going to be talking to Canthavenuthingood about the CGN merch and maybe talking him into getting some shirtd for those of you without them. Ill let the volunteers know when it gets sorted out. If you do not have a shirt, we will have some there to give to the people who donate money to the CGF and you will be able to use one of those for the duration of your time.

As of right now, heres what I still need:

Supplies:

2 Folding tables. The big ones, not card tables. Think beerpong size.
Desktop computer
Gun rack to rest display rifles
Several folding chairs

Rifles:

At least 3 ARs.
BB Ar - Lateralus
Precision AR - Mine is incomplete, but I can slap on my WOA upper to a spare lower if anyone has one. Mine needs to be sent back to Spikes.
Featureless AK - Mine is incomplete, so we still need one.
BB AK - Lateralus. You guys are gonna like this one.
AR/AK pistol - Anyone? Would be really nice to have one to show people how many different types of evil guns CalGuns has brought into the state.
.22 AR - Great for explaining the Rimfire exemption. DedEye will probably bring his if he is coming.
Something Exotic. FAL, PS90, MSAR, FS2000, anytyhing that people usually dont see. Cmon Ivan, show us what you've got .

If we can get those, we will have a wonderfully diverse representation of how Californians arent that limited because of the hard work done by CGN and the CGF.

I am without internet right now while I move into my new house I bought, so communication will be slow and spotty.

PMs are on the way.

Thanks again everyone!!

Parking and entry for volunteers can be reimbursed by proceeds from booth sales; please keep and forward receipts to me for *ALL* reimbursed costs (directed to Jason).

I would suggest that only a few (at max) AR/AKs be present at the show, possibly w/ a mix of C&R, [hunting] shotgun, (competition?) pistols, etc. There is a downside to representing ourselves to/as one specific demographic of gun owner, and Calguns is trying to be the 'big tent' for all enthusiasts. I'd recommend enough guns to get some looks and few enough that the focus remains on the site and the benefits of our community/membership. Our biggest selling point is "free".

My AR is a Retro Build, accually a copy of a colt model 604. If interested let me know.

How would that work, would one just bring it, check/zip tie it, and take it with you when you leave?

I can also bring a folding stock Ruger 10/22 I could bring as well... Just tossing it out there. I also have a desktop computer I can bring with a sprint air card for internet access. I will need to know when you want me to come drop it off or whatever.
I am also interested in bringing some info on 18-20 year olds obtaining handguns legally, such as the intra family transfer forum and my home made flyers on such.
Are we also going to have info on the roster, such as single shot exemptions, intra family out of state exemptions, how microstamping is not the end of the world, e.t.c? If not let me know and I will type some stuff up and send it over to Kinkos for print.

NRA and material we've generated for the booths are gtg, anything else needs to be sent over so we can get our eyes on it prior.

If you pull around to the stable side (gate 5, I think)tell the security guard you are working the show, act like you are supposed to be there and you know what you are doing, you can get in and park on the back side of the building. At least this is the way it has worked for me in the past. I used to work all of the R.V. shows.

For most of the shows an AR an AK and one "Grabber "gun will be all you can display on an 8ft table. For a 'Grabber' we used a 91/38 Carcano {Oswald} carbine and on Sunday an 1874 Sharps. Please remember that this movement isn't JUST about EBR's but about ALL guns .If we loose sight of that ,we will alienate other gunnies. The more diverse an audience we appeal too ,the more members we will attract. So how about this for a motto :
" No Gunnie Left Behind "

Default Calguns Local Outreach - J&R Sports Customer Appreciation Day Sept. 20, 2009

What: J&R Sports Customer Appreciation Day
When: Sept 20, 2009; 12:00pm-5:00pm
Where: J&R Sports Supply, 2558-B Old First St., Livermore, CA 94550

Crew: (Wildhawker-TBD), Sorensen440, elrcastor, lazyworm, stormfeather, lomalinda, jdberger?, DK9mm, domokun...

Needs:
4 Calgunners to help J&R barbeque and serve food (provided by J&R)
2-4 Calgunners to mix with the customers and discuss our community

Calgunners, time to step up! Randy at J&R has very graciously asked us to join him at their customer appreciation day on 9/20/09. Not only will we be able to pass out Calguns brochures to the customers, but we can take the time to explain the importance of getting involved at the local level.

While the food is free, J&R has offered to allow us to request donations for the Calguns Foundation at the end of the food line- 100% of these donations will go to CGF!!!

Plus, some lucky winners will get a 4 day defensive handgun course from FrontSight. We are also using this event as a fundraiser for CalGuns, so please show your support for that great organization.

Our Customer Appreciation Day will be Sunday, Septermber 20, from 12:00 - 5:00 in the parking lot outside the store. The lot will be closed for parking, so be sure to use the parking garage on Railroad Ave, about 1/2 block away. Mark your calendars now! We all look forward to seeing you on Sunday, 9/20.

"2-4 Calgunners to mix with the customers and discuss our community"

Given my current limitations, this appears to be about all I'm good for right now.

Of course, standing around bull****ting with people all day is something I'm pretty good at, so it should work out just fine.

I was wondering if this would be a possibility as well

I'm not saying I'm in but I would consider it if it were a possibility
