Default P320 - Please, not this stuff again!

PA transit police haviing a “discharge issue”, replacing them with G17:

https://whyy.org/articles/septa-poli...urban-station/

And these already have the upgraded triggers.

Maybe the transit police should just think about baseball or something?

https://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/...18/septa-p320/

STATEMENT FROM SIG:

Quote:
The decision by WHYY’s (NPR – Philadelphia) to recycle a disproven and agenda-driven story while omitting and misrepresenting key facts speaks volumes of their true politics and what they think of their audience. The SIG SAUER P320 is one of the most innovative and sought-after pistols in the firearms market, and the pistol of choice for all branches of the United States Military (M17/M18), along with numerous law enforcement agencies and other military units worldwide.

Credible experts, including media, from inside and outside the firearms industry have answered any questions with regards to the P320, and determined, conclusively the safety of the P320 pistol. Further, it has been determined that SIG SAUER responded quickly and comprehensively to a matter that focused on the negligent handling of a firearm — not a problem with the design or function of the pistol, which has always exceeded all safety standards.

Still, two years ago SIG SAUER announced a free P320 upgrade to its consumers. The upgrade took the safety of the SIG SAUER P320 pistol to an unprecedented level of safety, one far beyond existing standards of other pistols on the market today. SIG SAUER stands by this decision, and continues to recommend that anyone who has not participated in this upgrade should do so. It is safe to say this is one of the most tested and proven firearms in history.

As for the report of an unintended discharge involving the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA), it is premature to report anything as fact during an ongoing investigation, but here is what we know: SEPTA sent the P320 in question to the Philadelphia Police Department’s Firearms Forensics Unit and they determined the pistol and its safeties were functioning as designed. It is not clear at this time whether this unintended discharge was negligent handling or accidental.

The Sig P320 is the Audi 5000 of the gun industry. https://www.thetruthaboutcars.com/20...the-audi-5000/ The media, and apparently the idiot end users, care nothing about facts. So, Sig should just concede that the P320's reputation is irrevocably tarnished and announce the Sig P420. Done.

The Audi scare worked out great for me, $40,000 new car with 40k miles cost me $5500. I loved that 5000CS Quattro Turbo.
I don’t think the SIG 320 is ever going to depreciate to the $100 level though.

I must be dumber than the rest. I've not sent my 320C back for the "voluntary upgrade". It could go off any minute now even though it's not loaded.

Somebody save me!!!

I am glad to see this article getting debunked. I assume this Sig 320 is the same pistol as the M17 .mil contract pistol. I completely splurged on the civilian P320 and the "limited edition" M17

This was really the first pistol from Sig that I considered lefty friendly. I put the M17 on SQ status but the regular one has been great so far for a couple hundred rounds.

It amazes me how everyone that’s butt hurt with the Army choosing the Sig over Glock just can’t let it go. When this story broke, they all came to life again. Never mind waiting for facts, it’s all about the hyperbole and many of these guys are the first to scream fake news in other matters.

I don’t own a Sig and am a die hard Glock guy and even I roll my eyes at them.

Glock lost that contract because Sig under bid them by so much it wasn't even a contest. Glock price $270 ea. Sig Price $207 ea.

Sig; "Gave them the razor and is now selling them the blades."

IE: Spare Parts Holsters, Accessories etc.

Too bad, I think the Glock is by far the better gun, and it is certainly battle tested much more than this Sig Pistol,,, which is essentially 2-3 years old?

Sig has also modified the slide to incorporate a disconnector and new sear. While not knowing anything about this AD/ND, my guess is this is a firearm in the armory that was not sent in for the "voluntary upgrade".

The entire issue was drop safety, not discharging in a holster or in someone's hand. So unless something like a hammer hit the back of the slide with some force in the right angle... They are full of ****. And if( when) they get caught lying about what happened, as a liar his law enforcement career is over forever.

I own two full size SiG P320's..9mm and 45acp. If y-u own a pre fix P320, DO NOT send it in for the trigger upgrade. I sent the 9mm in and regret it. The new trigger doesn't compare to the original IMHO. The 45acp has and will always have the original pre fix trigger in it.

My RX never got sent in, but the trigger did have the dreaded double click to reset. It’s not that hard to work on the contact area to minimize the double click. I should’ve jumped on those discounted pre-fix SC assembly.

My P320 X5 is a post drop problem fix. It has a bit of internal polishing and a trigger stop.

Not to drift into OT, but I've installed the updated skeletonized striker, and the lightweight adverse trigger. Didn't have an issue before and still don't have one.
