The regular glock tool works perfectly fine. As does any other punch, for a dollar.

OP, I'm not familiar with that particular tool, however, most of the tools of that design work well with 9mm, 40, and .357 Sig mags, but not so well on the 10mm or 45 acp mags. They really work well on mags with hard to remove base plates. No knuckle busting involved.

I have something similar I got off Amazon. Literally took 1 second to pull floor plate off. $9 shipped.

Nice looking little tool, but I never needed a specialized tool to disassemble my Glock mags. For $12, I'll pass. Now if Glock store were giving these away at the gun show . . . sure, why not.

What does that even mean? They only come apart one way, theres no learning involved. The magclaw just makes it way easier to get them off.

Why is everyone pretending Glock mages are easy to take apart? They suck compared to any other mag on the market, and the mag tools make it much easier. I use this one and it literally takes a couple seconds to do it instead on pinching, pushing and cussing for several minutes.

Get one of these from local hardware store and an Allen or Torx that comes free from most ring/base product. The small clamp is no more that $3 from Harbor Freight.

+1 this. Instead of having to fumble with a carpenter’s clamp (LOL!) and a straight punch like a total idiot, I decided to spend 15 minutes’ worth of wages on a claw-style disassembly tool and now I can take apart a Glock mag in seconds with zero effort. This is definitely a case of work smarter, not harder. Buy the tool and make your life that much simpler.

Some of us just happened to have the tools in the box to do that task that we don’t have to spend the money and package waiting.

The normal Glock tool works fine as long as you compress the mag. I use this and a normal Glock tool:

The problem with the tool in the OP is it will not push the locking plate down far enough into the mag to allow for the mag body to be squeezed.

If you have 10rd CA mags and you want to disassemble them like free state mags, you need to modify the locking plate like this:

wait, oem glock mags are this hard to take apart?

don't they work like with every other pistol mags out there? push in a small tab and slide the bottom plate off slowly to make sure the spring doesn't take out your eye.

OEM magazines are easy, even with just the Glock tool.

Personally, my problem, is with the California 10-rounders! Those are a pain to remove. So, I got this:

https://www.glockstore.com/Double-Diamond-MDT

.... Now... Now... I am quite sure the frugal CalGunners here will freak out in my spending $30 for such a tool... Well, as I learned being in this forum for 3-years, it's my money.

I got that very same one, after I got annoyed wit needing to use a vise or vise grips and a punch.

Can one make do with out it? Sure. But having a nicely made, functional tool specific to the task at hand when needed is a pleasure.

Yes, but there’s a notch on each side that prevents the base pad from slipping off creating a quick mag dump. Watch video time stamp 1:15

They do not come apart like that.

If it works get it... It's cheap nothing to lose if it doesn't work then add to the collection of your stockpile toy parts. But what I used most and works all the time is just a punch that fits perfect with the hole. However some mag's are stubborn so i used the smallest c-clip to clip the edge.

Why clean a Glock mag? Just replace the dirty ones with you friends nice clean ones when they are not looking. Easy, cheap, and a time saver.
Just nod yes when they ask if your mags get dirty fast...

Yup! Found out too late about the difference in design that I ruined one Glock tool trying to take apart a Komiefornia magazine.

That is why I decided to go with the $$$ disassembly tool...

For years and years and years I used the punch and brute force method, finally bought a similar type tool for $6 or $7 and haven’t looked back. Much easier and les of a hassle, that one seems a little high in price. But I did get mine a few years ago, keep looking and get one cheaper if you can find it they all work the same.
