Default BrassMagnet netting to catch your brass?

Interesting product:

http://www.brassmagnet.com/

Quote:
The BRASS MAGNET® is a 100"x 144" nylon mesh brass collection net, lightweight only 6 pounds and comes with its very own, easy to store and carry “stuff bag.”

It comes with six convenient weighted handles that keep the Brass Magnet® in place and allows you to easily pick it up. It also has velcro tabs so you can hook them together to accommodate large training areas. Its unique design gives you a 75%-85% reduction in time conquering clean up with a few bends vs. a few hundred.

The Brass Magnet® is very durable and has been range tested using over 1 million rounds. From a .22 up to a .50 cal., the BRASS MAGNET® will perform flawlessly. It takes the heat so you don’t have to.

No longer lose your brass in the weeds; the BRASSMAGNET® can spread out and collect your brass over snow, mud, grass, gravel and more.
This sounded like a great product to have for practice until I saw the price...$120!!! Yikes!

Anyone have any idea of where to get netting tight enough to capture pistol brass, but flexible enough to fold up? It would need to be at least 8'x12' to be useful, although a longer roll isn't out of the question (split the cost of a longer roll?). A tarp works, but this sounds like it would be more convenient (and trap less dirt).

I thought you did not reload and would just leave all that brass for the pickers. LOL.
It does look great for practice.

I should start reloading in...two weeks.

Actually, I'm really close to starting (just need powder and set up the 650), but I've been saving my brass for three years. I have three buckets full of 9mm just waiting for me.

Gryff, you sound just like me with my 550, 2 weeks!
I did just load some 223 on my single stage.
Going out tomorrow morning to test about 8 different loads.
Once I get that done I have to get started on the pistol reloading.
9, 40, 40 long, 40 minor, 40 minor long, and 45, and maybe 38.
I have about 5 buckts of brass. Thank god I got that brass sorter. Works great.
I have been cleaning brass over the past 4 years, so at least I have a jump on that.

Some guns throw brass way father than this net can cover. I think a vertical net would be more effective.

Theres a little do dad that actually goes on your gun that collects brass, from the videos ive seen it didnt seem to really get in the way. Im sure if you empty it after every mag the weight wouldnt be to big of an issue.

You don't want to run something like that when practicing for competitions. You want to run the gun just like it would be when competing.

Well, Id also seeing myself running a bit more then 144 inches during a stage also.

As for the netting. Shade cloth sold at ace hardware / home depot may work, or at some vineyard supply houses they have a similar netting for covering grapes from birds, but I think its a bit to big to catch brass.

I bought one from my AR, it is decent. On rare occasions it can sag and end up blocking your ejection port. Almost once every magazine a casing will slip between the rifle and bag and fall onto your hand and burn you. They are decent but toying around with it so much, I am cool just chasing my brass and taking a loss on some of it.

Once you have a plan for practicing action pistol, you'll understand.

Very true, my only practise is on the course itself.

Either way check out shade cloth, 6' wide by up to 100 long, relitivly inexpensive. For the "frame" maybe .700 irrigation tubing? Flexible, cheap, and probly enough weight not to fly off on you.

I will. Great suggestion regarding the cloth.

I think I fell in love with that trigger.

How bad was the springer to install, He did my grip reduction but I dont feel like sending it off again.

Working on the XD is pretty easy, as long as you understand they way that the sear, ejector, and striker safety lever fit together. First time I worked on mine, these three pieces (which fit together a specific way) popped out before I could see their orientation. Fortunately, there's a few good videos (Thank you, YouTube) online that helped show how they go back together.

Figuring that out was the hardest part. Otherwise, it is pretty easy to do.

If you want a full-blown trigger job without sending the gun in, look at the Springer Trigger Kit. If you want something that is a little less expensive, but also improves the trigger noticeably, then look at the Powder River Match Target Easy Fit Trigger Kit.

Both products are winners.

I am for a lot of my regime. I do slow, precision fire to start, then move to draws, then reloads, target transitions, barricades. All of this is timed and tracked so I can see if I am progressing or not.

I also do some advance/retreat/lateral shooting drills, but the bulk of the practice is easily done in a fairly small area.

Anytime. We could meet at Richmond and do the modifications in the scoring shack easy enough.

I noticed her. I couldn't tell if she was 13 or 23. That's pretty much a red flag for me...

$120? That's crazy. I have a 9x12 canvas tarp I bought at the paint store for $12.

Yeah, I have a plastic tarp that I use, but the netting is better since it will allow dirt/dust to fall through, and should fold up more tightly.

OMG, I was reading this thread and it took 26 posts to mention this. Way to GO "In this City." I was thinking the net was what she was wearing and she came with it. For $120.00 to pick up my brass. What a deal.

Sorry, I meant 26 posts, not threads, for someone to mention the chick in the picture. Also, I was complimenting "In This City" who posted it.
