Except shooting sports are a in a declining market. Add to that the fact that CA is a tough place to open/run any business, let alone the firearms business which faces onerous regulations in a difficult political (anti-gun) climate.

Not all Dick's Sporting Goods sell guns and ammo. In fact the majority of their stores that I've been to over the years (greater LA area) don't. If the guns & ammo section of Dicks becomes unprofitable, they will probably just get out of that part of the business and remain a typical sporting goods store.

I wouldn't expect to see much of anyone come in and fill the void, if they stopped selling G&A or closed completely.

Supply would probably just shift to existing stores (turners, walmart, other existing LGS).

As more and more gun stores (even if it's Dick's) disappear, prices will rise as competition decreases.

There are far fewer gun stores in the San Fernando Valley that there were 25 years ago. Anyone remember Pony Express, National Guns and the others that were along Parthenia?

I've read many posts here in the last few years about "local" gun stores shutting down, but don't recall hearing of an equal number of new stores opening up. Maybe I just missed those posts.

Many on this forum may disagree with my opinions (see above), but I think boycotting existing guns & ammo stores (in the hope that they will go out of business) will do more harm to us then good.

Just my 2 cents....

The ultimate irony would be someone voting Democrat, and then going to Oak Tree to shoot using their ammo from Dicks.

I was thinking along that line. Looks like a loss leader to get you in the door. If you bought a pallet one box at a time (soaking their overhead) and nothing else, think how much that really cost them.

Patronize whomever you like but it's like the support for the Democrats. People support them for one reason because they believe in one item on their platform and then wind up supporting more things that they don't like.
OMG, you're back.

I asked Turner's "Can you match Dick's retail price for Remington Gun Club Target Loads $3.98?". Let's see if Turner's can match DICK's price.

RTI is 0 if you know what it means
but the cost is easy to calculate
$350 my hour rate divided by 60 = $5.8 per min.
It took me about 2 min, so $11.6

BTW, for my customers i round it up to 0.5 hurs, the they would pay $175 + 9% tax

Any more questions?

What did you get for that $11.60? Not all returns are monetary.

I enjoy showing the value of my reloading when my 1oz reloads will outperform any 1.125oz cheapo shell on the sporting clay course. Unless you’re spending $8-$11 a box for a quality of shell that I can reload for $4 then power to ya!

Jesus people, you don't support these scumbags.

You make it clear to Dick's and every other company that you will go out of business if you cross gun owners. They supported gun control groups for crissakes. Not one dime!

Yep, agree 100%. it is well known effect. Widely used mostly in medicine, it even has a name - Placebo effect.

Ummm no. You're just trapped in the fiscal box.

So you don't buy into that a well tuned (to the task, firearm and operator) handload can outperform a generic promo load?

reloads tend to perform better than factory. My 45acp LRNs are low recoil, and extremely accurate, more so than any factory ball ive tried.

RandyCat. Why are you so fixated on cost, replying to others that don't care? If they're not concerned about cost, why get defensive?

IMO, only 410 somehow worth it or rifle loads if you do precision/competitive/long distance shooting.

I now load around 18 grains of red dot or e3 and I am having a little better scores. I realize this isn't a good test, but it seems the leads that I have pictured in my head when I shoot work better with at least 1200fps or higher.

My reasoning:
I can load 100 shells in about 20 minutes, in a climate controlled room with music of my choice playing in the background, it's rather enjoyable.
The nearest place to buy shells is Walmart, a 15 minute drive (one way)
This Walmart NEVER has shells I like, the best I can do is their "value packs" and my shells are better (less recoil) and the clays break the same.

Anyone up for Moore-N-Moore on Sunday?
