Closest 200+ yard range to OC
Where is the closest spot to shoot 200 or more yards near the OC area?
I prefer 300 yards+ but 200 being good enough because I know 300 is a bit hard to come by in my immediate area. I want a decent local longer range to finish up my hand loads and get my 700 dialed in. Im kinda over waiting every 6 months for a shooting trip to head out to river side or barstow to partially get my hand loads dialed in. Hope to be able to just drive down some where after work and get a quick load dialed in and be done Also any good long range shooters interested in helping a guy touch up his loads would be appreciated. |

Prodo is my clay spot? I think they have a 100 rifle/pistol range if that.
I know there is angels burro and raahhagies or what ever has a 100 yard spot but I'm hoping for something slightly closer and has at least 200 |

Which range is the 200yd one? I've been on about 3 or 4 of the private ones (two directly out from the sign in, one up top fro sign in, and the one you have to drive a min to from the office) and they look to be about 100-120yds.

I am also very curious on the closest range for those of us in OC, specifically south OC for me. I would love to join a club or range that shoots fairly locally, just not sure which one makes the most sense for me... |

West end gun club has 500m shooting available often. They require membership in the NRA to join their private club. I believe the membership cap has been reached. Maybe you can get out there as a guest.

Lytle Creek has 300 yds but the 300 yds area is not always open. I think you can drive up there to reset your targets.
I've been there on a slow day and they only open to 100 yds (happened only one time in the last three years). Most of the time however, 200 yds range is usually open. They added a good size circular steel plate at 200 yds and a few bowling pin sized steel plates as well. |

I believe Burro has a 600 yard range but only open during weekdays.
It'll be cheaper to go to the Temecula/Pala club but Big Horn Canyon Ranch (for hunting) has a 900 yard target (notice I said "target" not range). You have to drive to check/setup (I'd recommend steel if he allows it) and it's $50.00 for the day.

Lytle Creek is your best option. They have a skeet range at 40 yards, 100 yard rifle/pistol, 200 yard rifle, and when its is not fire season they have a 300+ range open. I have set up targets at 400 yards before up the hill.
There is a range that goes 600+ yards over by Castaic lake. Its kind of a PITA to get to tho. |
