Video Series - How to Adjust Dies
Here's another video series, this time showing how to adjust your reloading dies. We do both a single-stage press and a progressive press. The example gear is Lee, but the same principles apply to any other press/set of dies.
Part 1 is done on the single-stage. Parts 2 and 3 are on the progressive. As with all my videos, Firefox and Opera will view them natively with NO browser plug-ins needed. http://www.sanfranciscoliberalwithagun.com/pro1000.html Safe shootin' and loadin'! EDIT: this video series is now also on the YouTube channel "sfliberal".

wow. you're using OGG video. you are liberal. i think your videos are great and very helpful, becuz when I get Lee's stuff they never come with sufficient instructions. not for me anyways. So i really appreciate your work in improving accessibility.
that being said. I think you're video/audio encoding quality could be improved. Here are some of the issues that might turn people off to your work: 1. biggest issue is file size. you can reduce the resolution or try experimenting with other video and audio codecs. due to popularity of anime, MP4 video codecs like X-Vid can be commonly in most computers now. but you have old people on this forum...so i dont know. Is your audio encoded in MP3? 2. background noise. you might want to reduce this in both your filming and encoding. many audio programs will offer a noise reduction feature, which you might benefit from. 3. you should de-interlace your videos. interlace are those visible lines that are visible in when there's motion. on old TV resolution they are not noticeable, but with pc and modern HD tvs they are. Virtualdub is a great and free program for this type of stuff. Perhaps you have your reasons of doing things due to copyright, since you are using OGG instead of other more poplar containers like AVI, so my suggestions may not be that helpful. Anyways, if you haven't heard of this site www.doom9.org, then you should head over there. they have tons of resources on video + audio encoding, which for the most part can be achieved for free. fyi: you can just always run everything off of youtube. Google's Chrome doesn't sync the audio right. X( Last edited by mnguyen84; 08-25-2010 at 7:58 AM.. |

I appreciate any and all feedback, including constructive criticism such as yours. Thanks! And you're right, anything can be improved.
The chief reason I use Ogg video is the same reason I'm behind the 2A. For me, it's about freedom and truly open standards. The video is Theora, the audio is Vorbis. The video software I use is Kdenlive on Ubuntu GNU/Linux. Time limitations keep me from testing more Ogg players (e. g. Google's Chrome), but I can and do test all of my videos with the following ones: - Firefox - VLC Media Player - MPlayer/FFmpeg I've tried encoding them in MP4 as a comparison, and the file size is just about the same as Ogg at similar video quality levels. I wish I could make the files smaller and stay with a truly open standard format (H.264 is out of the question, it's totally patent-encumbered). And speaking of YouTube, for this series, I kept the clips short enough to fit into their time limitations, so I'll also be posting them there. I'm doing the transcoding right now for that. The YouTube channel is "sfliberal". And yep, I'm very liberal, and doggone proud of it!

with mp4 are you encoding them with 2-pass? 1-pass you wont get great quality/file size ratio. i am also glad you're not putting on gloves in these videos.
i also consider myself a liberal. although i am more in favor of regulating fire-arms through education and awareness, rather than saying no-no to people. |
