How is the increase in muzzle blast out of the 24" Bbl. of the M1?

Don't really have a problem w/ the recoil on the 10.5 lb. beast, and it would be a little spendy just for cool.

It might be nice for hunting, though, especially for follow-up shots on running game. long as the muzzle blast wasn't prohibitive.

Thanks for the replies. I’m not in any hurry, so I’m looking used and waiting for a deal on new. I hesitated when turners and my local shop each had $1000 deals on Standards, so now I’m going to be patient and wait for a good deal to come around again and not dither.

I bought that when the first went into effect years ago and it doesn't fit on tightly on loaded model from the early 90's. Are they a tighter fit now a days?

Do yourself a favor and look for an early one...(pre 63,xxx serial #) Known as "Golden Era" guns...all GI except receiver. As for breaks, I have the Smith Ent "Coast guard" one on my SN 53,XXX gun..It shoots "lights out". I'll never part with it. Good luck with the hunt.
