Default LEOs oppose Chabot range closure. Sign this petition.

http://petitions.moveon.org/sign/cha...t&r_by=1415237

This petition is in support of the Chabot Gun Club marksmanship range in the Chabot East Bay Regional Park. Yesterday I came across a petition to close this range posted on moveon.org, so I started this counter petition.

I know LEOs train at this range, so please support this petition.

If u can, copy the link, cross post it in other forums and share it amongst like minded 2A supporters.

Thanks for your support.

Done! I just don't get this. Them wanting to close this place is purely against the 2A, and VERY ANTI-GUN!
This range provides a SAFE environment for LAW ABIDING citizens to practice with their LAWFULLY owned firearms so that they can learn how to PROPERLY AND SAFELY operate their firearms.
I argue that closing ranges for "public safety" does just the OPPOSITE. Citizens need a place to shoot their firearms so that they know how to use them should/when the need arises within the city limits.

Ever think that maybe we already did this elsewhere.

Please don't be just another CG poster that jumps to unsubstantiated conclusions just because you don't see what you want to see..

Actually, that was one of my thoughts.

All I said was,"interesting". As in thought provoking. Other thoughts I had: maybe there aren't many LE folks on calguns. Maybe LE code of professional conduct prohibits them from taking public stances on political issues.

To be clear, I stated no conclusions, substantiated or otherwise.

The only thing you an reasonably infer from what I wrote is that I had expected to see more responses here. Which is true, I did. And when I don't see what I expect, that's interesting.

Incidentally, did you do this elsewhere? Perhaps signed my petition, or is there a different stance in support of the range circulating in the LE community I don't know about?

One more thing to add to that list. I believe the majority of posters in the LE section are from Southern California. While it doesn't mean they can't sign it, since the petition to close it has signatures from out of state if I recall, they probably don't generally get involved in issues that are out of their area. Did I sign it yes I also wrote a letter to the EBRPD board, having been someone who used the facility for training years ago.

Fast Eddie, I think it was the obvious implications you insinuated. Like a poster stated above, let's not drag the off topic drama in here with stupid crap.

Signed as well.

Here's a post regarding a recent journalists visit to Chabot and the column he published in the SF Chronicle about the petition.

Indoor Range fixes everyone's complaints. When I was stationed on a Naval Base in San Diego, a few miles from people's beach houses and yacht clubs; the shooting range we used wasn't fully indoors but had concrete "sound barriers" so to speak. No one knew we were shooting for the most part...
Now the person's backing this shut down are claiming. "Lead contamination" of the ground leaching into drinking water at Lake Chabot. I'm not positive but enough digging may uncover minimal pollution as bullets are jacketed. But I'm not sure.
