Wink So my wife told me I can't get another handgun unless...

"you buy me a nice purse, all your friends buy their wives nice purses".

I started to think of arguments in my head as to why it's ridicules to ask me such a thing. She can't tell me what I can and can't buy!

Then she threw the real bomb. "I'll buy you a nice handgun if you buy me the purse". I know, I know, how does that make any sense? Why doesn't she just buy herself the purse?

After some back and forth, I decided not to argue with her. Sometimes you just can't win an argument with your wife, at least not with reason. And of course she saw a 1911 stainless steel and said that's a nice gun, "I'll get you that one".

I've only been married a few years so maybe I'm just too new to these experiences.

Anyways, now I'm online looking for a purse and a new gun. Other than UCLA going out in the 1st round, not a bad weekend so far.

I can send you one of my wife's...problem solved!! Of course you'd have to pop some 9mm to replace her purse, but hey!...

Its not that she just wants to buy a new purse, she wants YOU to buy her the purse. She probably just wants you to verify you care about her the same way you do about your guns. It's a female thing I suppose. I would say go for it, you get a new gun out of it.

Welcome to marriage. Check all sense at the door. Especially when it comes to handbags.

Yep, she wants some of the attention that you put into your guns...women are like that . Buy her something nice and be glad she doesn't tell you how she hates guns.

I say go to your local Walmart and buy here one. They have plenty of nice purses. Let us know how it went? Oh, while you are there buy some ammo too.

I try to make it a habit of buying my wife "unnecessary" things that have fairly high ticket values without her asking and she never ever complains when I turn up with a new gun or a new lens or camera body.

Coach knock offs that are very realistic looking can be had on Fleabay very cheap. Send it to your office and laugh all the way to the bank. I have been married almost fifteen yrs. I know.

Any high profile chick knows the Coach outlet has it's own product line...not the "real" products that are in the "real coach" store.

So that may not work...

You have a good one. It is a fair trade. Think of it as a win/win. You buy something nice and she buys something nice.

I don't ask my wife about her purses. She doesn't ask about my guns.
Go to Macy's or Nordstrom and ask the sales ladies for help.
Look into Gucci and Louis Vuitton. Good luck.

let me get this right. in order for you to have something to protect your home and family, you have to buy her an over priced useless item? yeah, that makes perfect sense. Now if you're just buying a new firearm just for S&G, then it kind of makes sense, but still not really. I say buy her a gun of her own and take a class together.

or just get her this

Two words: Venice Beach.
You can buy her a Coach bag, Louis Vitton purse, Prada sunglasses and and Gucci sneakers, probably even through in a bag of weed, for less money than a Charter Arms handgun.

My wife hinted that the next time I buy a handgun, she should get another handgun. More expensive than a purse, at least the purses she's bought in the past.

You should not only get her a purse, but find out what size her favorite shoes are, and get shoes that match the purse! Give them to her separately, and when she falls in love with the purse, whip out the shoes! Then take her for a night on the town. After a few drinks, casually mention that in addition to that really nice handgun, you saw this very cool rifle too...😏

I wouldn't let my wife pick my next gun, or truck for that matter! And I would not pick a Purse for her. I would how ever take her out for a nice lunch and let her pick what she wanted. Hopefully with a full stomach it wouldn't go on more than about three or four stores! I am lucky tho, We have been together 27 years and Ive only had to go on a couple of shopping trips. She has only had to go to a couple of LGSs with me. DR

Learned a while back that when I buy wifey something and she doesn't expect it, I make points. When I buy her something she wants, I make points. When I put the dishes away, I make points. Point is I "get" to buy whatever I want whenever I want. Points are a good thing!

Been there, done that.... And still doing it. ugh!

My wife only likes the high end stuff and refuses to get anything else (Chanel, Celine, etc.... yes, I know what they are NOW since I want to know how much they're costing me). And BE CAREFUL because once she has gotten a taste of it, it's game over as she'll never want a cheaper handbag again.

The real sad part.... my current collection of handguns & long guns probably cost me the same amount as 2 of her low/mid range bags .

Just stay outta the Gucci and Louis Vuitton stores at the mall. I literally felt like crying walking outta those stores after buying what she wanted. I have had a number of these experiences over the years. My gun safe would be much fuller if it weren't for these damn purses. Recently she mentioned some other fancy foo foo bag shop she wants to check out. "Hell no babe, not gonna happen."

If you can afford it than I would get her a Coach bag or 2, at around $200-$300 they're not THAT expensive and she will appreciate it.

My wife likes nice things, so do I. I get her a bag or pair of shoes for no reason, it makes her happy and I can buy things I want without fuss. Heck some of MY shoes cost as much or more than guns.

This!

I think its fair. Suddenly the missus spending $500 dollars for a bag doesn't seem that bad when a nice AR runs around $1200 (pre-madness prices of course) fully equipped. Its about compromises fellas!

Meh, get her the purse. I should probably do the same before my wife sees this month's CC bill/bank statement. Lets just say my safe has seen some growth lately. I usually just use cash for my gun related purchases, but there have been a lot of good deals and things coming back into stock the past few weeks. A new purse will make my life easier when the bill hits the mailbox.

The Coach store has gotten me out of a few jams. Last time lucked into buying the matching wallet and hit it out of the park. If you go in there and look helpless enough, some sweet girl will take you under her wing and help you get it right. It is definately about picking it out for her yourself, and when you really hit the bullseye they don't forget it.

You can be right or happy, but not both.

Don't try to understand the logic with why you need to buy her the purse. Just go with it. Most likely it is so she can tell her friends that her husband is so sensitive and bought her this awesome purse.

But like I said, just go with it and get her on the nice purse every 30 day schedule.

First time I tried that I went to the Coach outlet after I picked up my new car. The next month she got her new car.
