You can count me in on Monday morning and afternoon.
I'm interested in the Rifle 202 course but I can only make it in the mornings. So, let me know if you can flip flop the schedule on one of those days. Thanks! Can't wait, it's going to be fun!! |

Count me in for the November pistol and carbine class! Just took a CATS class there so I thankfully know where the good hotels etc are located. Not hard for me to come up Friday night.
While I didn't really take to the CATS concept of the CAR method, can you tell me, do you teach weaver or isosceles pistol stance? Feel free to PM me with the reply at your convenience. Regards, Mike |

Hello Mike,
Good to go for November, I will PM you some other info. I can teach both weaver or isocleles but I've been using a modifed form of the isocleses for many years now and this transfers over to the standing position with the rifle and shotgun. If a student is a long-time weaver user and has been successful then there is no need to change it. If a student is a new pistol shooter with little or no formal training then I will train them with my modified Iscocles. I look forward to hearing from you. Stan Quote:

I had a great time at Stan's pistol 101 class this weekend. It was the perfect balance of refreshing the basics and learning new skills, especially for someone like myself who was self taught up until this point.
Stan was a great instructor. He was well spoken and clear in his instructions, open to questions, and all around a very nice guy! I'll definitely be back for Pistol 201 in November. |

I took carbine 101 this past weekend andwanted to share my AAR- I apologize if I miss something, it's only been 2 days but work is already consuming my brain!
This was my 3rd rifle class, the others being @ ITTS & another (my first) with Greg Block. My Gear: LMT 14.5" carbine Aimpoint M4 Blue Force Gear 10-speed mag pouch on my belt. BFG VCAS sling 10/30 PMAGs with UBBT Federal XM193 ammo (class was listed at atleast 400 rounds, so I brought 500)
First off, my rifle ran great...I'm at about 3,700 rounds now, and with the exception of underpowered Remington ammo, i've had no issues. We started off with a brief safety review, and then moved into zeroing rifles; We zeroed at the 50 yard line, and mine was slightly low, took about 8 or 9 shots to get it dialed in. There was one guy ( i think he's a calgunner?) who was having trouble getting his HK MR556 & Aimpoint T1 zeroed- which was too bad, because that gun was I think he ended up shooting irons. ( I think i saw a vortex SPARC by the end of the day?) We then moved into various shooting positions, including prone, kneeling, standing, urban prone, etc. Started off at the 50, then moved in to the 25. Then moved into shooting while moving, while closing gaps @ 20, 15 and 7 yards. I want to preface and say that this next comment is NOT in any way negative towards Stan or his training- because I 100% feel that this 101 class was exactly what it should have been: practical application of the fundamentals of shooting a carbine. but being that this was my 3rd carbine class, I felt at times a little bored. I am in NO way hsld by any means, so please don't take my comments as condescending or negative. I went into this class with an open mind, and learned new things from Stan- who btw is a great instructor (and a good shot, to boot!). My primary reason for taking his 101 class was to get a feel for what kind of instructor he was, and what he expects from his students. I will definitely be signing up for his 202 carbine class in NOV! Overall I Had a great time, and met some good people! Stan has a wealth of knowledge and I look forward to training more with him in the future. Like I've come to say: A day of training & shooting beats a day of working ANYTIME. I did notice that while the class description was 400 rounds, we only shot about 275; I attribute this a little to the additional time it took for a few of the students to zero their rifles. (by no means a big deal, just something to note). So Stan, if you read this, thank you for a good class & I look forward to training with you very soon! For people looking for good training at a GREAT price, I would 100% recommend Stan @ St. Crispians! P.S.- for those who took the Sat. 101 class, i was the guy shooting on target #8. Cheers, Tom |
