I am a member love the range, and the good people there, only downfall is the 120 mile (one way) drive for me to make up there. So I try and go once every other month.
the pros out weight the cons in my book

From my understanding reading their website, this place is more for long range rifle than pistol, correct? I'd jump on a membership, but I shoot a good deal of pistol too, and would want somewhere I can go to work on that.

I am very interested in becoming a member, since I don't have anybody to sponsor me, how hard would it be to join? I know the website says to call the BRRC to arrange for a tour, is there a sort of interview or something you have to pass while on the tour?

Hi Gary,

So it's just a matter of taking the tour, then I can be approved for membership?

emil,
the reason for the tour,is much like a test drive. Go to the rangeand see if the club has to offer what you are looking for. This way you know that you are getting the most bang for your buck.
Besides I would really hate to see people not happy for services especially if you have to hand over some hard earned money.

Emil,
No worries about the reply, after all information is not worth anything unless its shared. "Knowledge is Power", unless I know the numbers to the lottery, those I won't share

BRRC is a private club and like most private clubs there is an attemp to keep the level of membership consistent with the values the club likes to exude. It is best to get to meet a member or two and be able to submit a letter from them with your application for sponsorship into the club. I have been a member for about 2 years and it is an absolutely fabulous facility. The members all pitch in and keep it that way. I'm fortunate enough to be 16 miles door to door from BRRC. The funny thing is i hear about guys living in the country who have to drive hours to shoot 1000yds. We are very lucky to have such a facility.

Probably won't be joining because it's in Castaic. That's about an hours drive for me and with the gas prices, I wouldn't be going out there much. Guess I'll just stick with Angeles for now.

Just checked out their site again and noticed they have a camping area. Could be a nice place for a quick weekend getaway...lol

Maybe I will look into it.

It's a great place to shoot, and nice and quiet during the week. Haven't seen a single yahoo out there yet.

Emil77-
BRRC is a great range

It has been a long time since i went to one of the clinics. My first trip to the range was to take a class on how to use the M1 Garand and then to shoot in a sanctioned match so i could buy a Garand from the army's DCM program. That was years ago

A lot of nice shooters and a clean safe range.

It is more than a range in that besides paying dues, they have various events, matches, bbq and of course work parties. The place is always well maintained and we all help out with that task.

It is great to have a place where i can shoot pistols and then plink on steel out to a few hundred yards that is close to LA. If i want to drive myself
Crazy and shoot out to 1,000 yards, that is an option as well

Is the BRRC located in the same place it was in 1988? I remember I shot a match there to qualify for a DCM M1 Garand and there was a right-of-way dispute going on. Mr. Wayne Fenner ran the match and gave me some very valuable coaching.

sounds like a good range to shoot, just wondering is this a 24/7 range like WEGC or Desert Marksman shooting range? One more question, does the entire range has to close to shoot on the 1k range?

Great range! Yes 24/7 2 gates with combo locks. There is a dedicated high power range with targets at 2, 3, 6 and 1k, a separate 100y range and 2 pistol areas. Camped there last year with my neighbor and our sons...........if you consider RV's as camping.

Would my wife and I, for example, need 2 separate memberships or is it covered under one membership? I couldn't find clarity on the site.

This is a great club, 2 pistol bays, shotgun bay, 100 yard rifle range and a separate long distance range ( to 1K).
Great people, willing to help.

Wow... This looks like a blast to shoot at! I have always wanted to get into longer distance shooting. Im a pistol/trap/skeet guy since i have never really had a range to shoot further than 100 yards but it has always intrigued me. Ihave to look into this.
