Default Primary Arms - wow!

I have an Eotech 516 which has the 7mm rise and I was looking for a magnifier with a FTS mount. The eotec version with a FTS mount was I think in the $600 range. I bought a Larue mount for $150 and a Primary Arms Deluxe 3X Magnifier. Wow! is all I can say. This thing is built super solid, no doubt it can handle any abuse from my 5.56 AR-15. The optics are crystal clear. Very well made. I am just amazed at the value. The Larue FTS mount with throw arm is a stellar piece of work as well.

In addition, the shipping charge from Primary Arms was reasonable and I got the thing within 2 days. Kudo's to a great company. Cant wait until they get their house brand 4-14x scope back in.

How much was the shipping?

I am thinking of getting their Aimpoint clone, but when I add it to cart I can't see the shipping price?

I assume they ship directly to CA as well right? Or are they anti-CA?

No Problems with CA. On the magnifier the shipping was $5 or $6. Separately I bought some scope mounts where shipping was about $3, and a flashlight where shipping was free.

Does anyone have any experience with how their Primary Arms products have performed after a lot of use?

While "a lot" may differ for people, I have had their original M3 clone and 3x G1 for about a year now, on an carbine length AR shooting 5.56 in the 1,000- 2,000 rnd range.
- I too have the LaRue FTS-mount for my 3x.
Works fine and holds zero OK.

Cheers,
N

Any idea if that magnifier will work with LMT rear sights? It doesn't look like it to me. Could you possibly measure for us the minimum clear distance required under the PA magnifier?

I have a similar setup and it definitely will NOT work with fixed sights. Should work fine with just about any folding sight though...

iPhone photo's but its probably me and the lighting that sucks more

I have a La Rue FTS with 1" inserts for my generation 1 PA 3x and it was pretty tight to fit over rear MI sight.
The FTS needs space behind the red dot for the base to fold and on my magnifier, there is only a short part of the front that you can mount to. (pic3)

Hope this helps,
N

Thanks

Just got my micro dot gen 2 today.

Got the higher mount installed, but I can't figure out how to get it mounted on the top rail? It just does not tighten enough and keeps falling off.

Got my Daniel Defense sight on fine. I am assuming this will work with the DD A1.5 rear sight?

Have you tried tightening the nut on the opposing side of the mount? It's best to do this in small adjustments to set the correct tension for the QD lever. I just got mine in the mail today too, and had to make some small adjustments to get it to clamp correctly.

Yeah, just tried that. Now it has a tight fit.

Now for my really dumb question. How do I turn it on?

Does it come with batteries installed?

If not, I'll have to pick those up tomorrow when I get a new pistol grip.

The battery should be installed already. Turn it on by rotating the large dial on the side. The numbers on the dial are the brightness settings for the dot. "0" is the OFF position. Everything else (1 through 11) is ON, although at the lower settings the dot is pretty hard to see. If turning the dial doesn't work, the battery is probably dead.

All right, thanks for the tips. I guess I was only trying the low settings with a lot of light. Was darker today and I noticed it right away at the 1st setting.

With Daniel Defense A1.5 rear sight:
