I don't know if you'll ever forget about graduating boot camp. Plt 1079, MCRD, San Diego, '98. Yup, a "Hollywood Marine," standing tall and looking good, oughta be in Hollywood! Semper Fi!

Haha! Yeah, no kidding! Actually, I went to 2 schools (BE&E, CT "T"), got dropped and went out to the fleet as an Undesignated Seaman. Started in S-1 division where I thought I'd be an SK, but the XO on my first ship thought better (thank goodness!) and had EW2 Fortson (leading EW) teach me! I struck for EW and picked up 3rd class first time up (actually aced the exam!! They had 99 billets and over 1500 took the test, I made first increment!)

I was in C030 and our sister company was K015. Our company T-shirt was the only one in the history of RTC and NTC that was banned from both sides of the base!!! (sure wish I still had mine! Got lost a looooooooong time ago. )

Did someone seriously ask you what "USMC" meant? That's sad.

It's actually happened to me a couple of times. I was stunned both times and first asked if they were serious. I remember standing in line at the grocery store and an elderly couple was behind me. The lady asked her husband "What does USMC mean ?" and he loudly said The Marines. I was shocked that someone from the WWII generation would not know that.
