My son did a tasteful design.
I built this AR for him some time ago. It’s one of my AMT 80% lowers. For years & years I used ONLY Spikes Tactical lowers until I started machining my own. Now I only use American Made Tactictical 80%’s.
Now I’m not a big fan of wood aside from AK’s and such. And certainly not on The AR style! But my son redesigned his original build with these parts. He went to a pencil barrel & slab side Upper. The rail is aluminum but he found these accents to match the wood A2 stock & grip. Again, not my cup o’ tea... but I have to admit my son did a tasteful job on this. It’s actually a handsome rifle, lol. He is quite fond of it. And in the end, that’s all that counts. But of all the wood clad AR’s I’ve seen, this is best by far. Wow!
Now that is really cool! Is the buffer housed in that stock similar to an a2? Good for your son! I want one!

Dave, that is a great-looking AR. Did your son carve the buttstock?
Overall, that is very nicely done. Quote:

I meant to put this this in “Semiautomatic or gas operated” forum. Can one of the mods move it please as I mistakenly clicked on the forum above semiauto. My apologies.
No, my son didn’t make the stock. I’m the machinist...he hasn’t really taken to the love of making things as I do. Aside from building ARs, which I taught him when he was very young. I’m not exactly sure what the wood is, or who makes it. (Didn’t ask him). Just wanted to post it as I was “caught” by how attractive it is. And before this I HATED wood on ARs The wood accents on the rail, yeah I guess they only add a look, and yes..weight. But in fairness, this rifle is so ridiculously light it doesn’t matter much. He weighed it recently and although I forget exactly I do know it was extremely light. Among the lightest I’ve heard of. It feels too light in my hand.
