If you have not shot in the evening before, I highly recommend it. Chances are, if you have to use your firearm for self-defense, it will be during the dark hours of the day as for some reasons, the bad guys typically don't like to commit crime in broad daylight.

Ranges are usually well lit but the artificial light will also cast shadows, something to get used to when shooting.

Wife and I shoot trap in the evening/night on Tue (different range). I have found that it is very tough during dusk when the sun is also completely set and casts a lot shadows in the background. The flying clay target will be flying between lighted and dark areas, and can make you lose track of it.

Highly recommended for those who live closer to Livermore.

Well, to plug the Apple Valley Gun Club, we can shoot sun-up to 22:00. All ranges lit at night. I believe the rifle range lights are good to 100 yds. Not sure how much light gets to 300 yds. You are facing east when shooting.

The range master for the archery range and the indoor .22 range like to point out they operate 24/7.

I'd rather shoot tracers at tannerite at night. No can do here, can do in Yuma.

Would like to get out there again!!! I've been there before during an evening shoot. Very neat! IIRC, it was pretty cold at the time, so I doubt it was during summertime. Livermore is one of my favorite ranges.

We would like to make our night shooting a permanent thing. We have added lights to the pistol side so we can stay shooting until 9 PM. The rifle side is at the mercy of natural light, so for now you can shoot until you can't see the target or 9 PM. We don't expect to open the rifle side at night when the days get shorter. Right now the rifle side is busier at night than the pistol side. But don't worry, we have a shooting bench for you

Watch our web site, Mike posted the link above. We will be shutting down for a week in mid-August in order to repair the back berm on the rifle side (Winter landslide) and to change the grade (reduce the slope) on the pistol side. Watch our site for the exact date.

We were just discussing this at the monthly board meeting. Our trap side has events all the time and we were telling the board that the Rifle/pistol side would like to sponsor different shooting events that would eventually build up to 3 gun or USPSA type events. They are open to the thought. We have a couple of range areas that we still need to develop.

Mike is doing a great job for us. Since he joined the club and went through our NRA RSO course he has been a very involved volunteer. He has taken a lot of RSO shifts and range maintenance work on, we really appreciate him. We wish we had a dozen like him helping out.

Great to hear. The Trap side of the house does such a great job of offering a complete complement of competitive opportunities. I would love to see the same happen on the rifle/pistol side of the house.
