Default Sac County CCW appointments

I've been watching the appointment website for 2 months now, and have not seen any new appointments until 3/31, at which point they were all gone when I tried to book a date.

The website is supposed to email you if new appointments come available - has anyone actually seen an email update from the website?

I'm assuming there are a lot of others trying to do the same as me, because the appointment dates released on March 31st were gone in minutes. And I check the website everyday.

I have been waiting far longer then two months with no email about open slots for appointment at all.
It is to the point I am going to start calling, writing, and emailing them to get any info on why they are not taking new applicants. I am even tempted to start conceal carry illegally if I have to endure another year of waiting. As long as I document my training and all my countless attempts to get a permit legally I feel that I will be justified in my actions. If I check the system daily and pass proper training then I feel I am good to go. I hate the idea I have to get a permit to defend myself the best way I know how.
I prefer to get permit legally but if the system fails me and doesn't allow me to even apply for the permit then what am I to do?

In reality I will become a criminal to prevent myself from becoming a victim.

My renewal is up at the end of September, If I schedule an appointment for renewal anytime before my permit expires. Will the new permit continue from the date of expiration or the date of the actual renewal?

I'm in the same boat, I put in to be on the email list back in Feb, but I have not heard anything. Though from what I hear from a some guys at the LGS the wait list got super long recently. I was debating the same thing about contacting them via some other channel to make sure I was on the list and stuff, but waiting until I take the CCW course to see what the instructor recommends.

The last two batches of appointments were released at the end of October and January so I would suspect the end of April. In January I believe they released Mar-May so you will probably be booking for Jun-Aug. Good luck to you!

Renewal Appointments and "Final Appointments" are run on a different calendar that first appointments. And I would never wait to be notified that there are slots. The only thing you wait for is notification that you have passed the Sheriff's review and the DOJ review.

It's normal for all the First Appointment slots to be gone in 36 hours. The Sheriff opened up the Nov-Jan 2013 first appointment slots around Labor Day 2012 and they were gone in less than 24 hours. People hover over the site when they know appointments are being released. You can check regularly to see if someone has cancelled, it does happen, you might get lucky.

The Sacramento Sheriff, IMNSHO, does a great job of managing this, since demand so wildly exceeds supply. We should be grateful that we have a chance at all.

Just be thankful that sacramento is now allowing applicants for ccw. Compare to last 2009 and 2010 where a lot of schedule available but less or sometimes no applicants at all (afraid to be denied on the application).
If i remember correctly. Three years ago when i go to my final appointment (You don't have to show up in sac sherrif for initial interview), Detective Wright is the one who give the schedule for my final appointment. Very easy 2 minutes apointment. Handover the ccw training certificate to Amber and sign the permit, done. Then find your way back to the elevator. lol

You must refresh as much as possible! I haven't been trying more than two days and hit a canceled appointment!

Congratulations to you sir.

To my knowledge, you DO have to appear in person for the initial interview with the Sheriff's Office, in Sacramento.

I used this method and found a canceled appointment as well. Took a few days, but it worked. Keep checking.

You can just download the application before. Fill it up. Just drop it off to sheriff dept. Then the detective will call on your phone and will conduct a phone interview. After the interview, he will advice to wait for the approval/denial within 2 to 3 weeks. I took the ccw class while waiting. I recieved my approval letter after 2 weeks. The letter told me to do the fingerprints livescan. While waiting for the result i made my final appointment online.
This was before with McGiness.

I don't think this is the current process, in Sacramento, based on the Sheriff's CCW website. If it is current, please advise here so people won't be pestering the SO.

Same here, got two in the last 6 months, both within a day or two of trying. One for me, one for my wife.

I'm sorry I just looked up the email it was back on October 15th and filled by the 16th.. I don't know where I got the 500 from but here's what the email said .
CCW@sacsheriff.com
Show details
During the next couple of weeks we anticipate some "new CCW" appointments to be re-scheduled, as a result a limited number of "new CCW" appointment slots for the next few months will become available. You may check the online CCW appointment system for available appointments.
Please know that there will not be a sufficient number of appointments available at this time to satisfy all those on this email wait list and that the vacancies will become available as others are re-scheduled during the next week or two.

Is it enough to just refresh the last page of the form that says sorry no appointments? I'm checking when I can hoping to find one. I took the class last weekend and qualified, so now I just need the first appointment to move to the next step.

The main page, where you input your info. I just made that my "home page". Every 30 min to hour or so, for a few hours in the morning and evening, I'd open a new window/session and input my info, to see if there were any openings.

The canceled appointment I hit was two days later. My buddy hit a same day. It really just matters when the person decides to hit cancel.
And if you happen to hit one don't read or lolly gag you have no choice on dates and times just keep clicking next because someone else can fill that appointment first.

Mine was for the 24th. Yeah only one day and one time was available to pick, but I knew it didn't matter since they are so hard to get. The email confirmation to me noted to bring my application, Letter of Statement, and any supporting documents to be added to your file. What's the letter of statement? I don't see any reference to it on the form or their website.

FYI
End of October 2012 I scheduled my first appt on sacsheriff.com for Jan 23, 2013. They did have Nov 3rd appt avialable, but I thought I needed to have completed CCW classes first (duh).Took my classes Nov. 17 and 18, 2012. On January 31, 2013 I got my letter to have my Livescan. I went on the same day. On March 14, 2013 I recieved my letter from Sheriff stating I am approved and to schedule on sacsheriff.com.
I scheduled for April 10, 2013. Today, April 12, 2013 I recieved my permit in the mail.
Quick rundown of dates:

1. 10-30-12 scheduled a 1/23/13 first appointment
2. 11-17th&18th-2012 took 16 hour classes
3. 1-23-13 had first appointment
4. 1-31-13 Livescan
5. 3-14-13 livescan approved and set final appointment
6. 4-10-13 final appointmen
7. 4-12-13 recieved permit in mail

i agree it is better, but to be thankful? I should be thankful one man has the ability to deny me my rights? Yes the system has got better, but my rights are still being infringed. This kind of play nice, dont make waves complacency is the reason we are in this spot. we cant stop, because the libs wont. So if we arn't making progress, we are loosing ground. So no, im not content, and neither should you.

The letter of statement, is your good cause statement.

If married: I wish to carry a firearm for self defense and the defense of my family.

If single: Drop the family portion.

Contacted Amber and I guess I am not the only one who had the problem with the e-mail notifications. so if anyone of you are going for your first appointment be sure to tell the to mail and not e-mail it.

I started looking Jan this year, my initial appt is this Wed, I am finally getting the process started. You just have to check every day, multiple times. My buddy at work just picked up a cancellation this mid-may by checking every two hours. They are out there.

over 3000 appts opened up. you had to be on the waiting list for at least 7 days prior. If you met this criteria and still didn't get one you were just to slow. I have been trying for months and today seemed to be the clouds parting and the sunshine coming through.

good luck
