Please add Sierra Gun Exchange in Cameron Park. I have nothing but excellent experiences with them. They are small but they get an incredible amount of nice consignments.

https://www.sierragunexchange.com/about-us.html

SGX's Fees:

CA DROS FEE: $25

PRIVATE PARTY TRANSFERS: $10 + DROS

FFL TRANSFERS: $45 + DROS

CONSIGNMENT FEE: 15%

DEPOSIT ON SPECIAL ORDERED ITEMS: 50% of cost; Non-refundable

Default Other things to keep track of?

  • FFL Fees for ammo
  • Restrictions on what they'll accept (Ban AR type firearms for instance, or won't accept ammo)

I've queried a number of gun shops that won't accept certain firearms, or won't do FFL at all. It would be nice to put them up here as places to avoid. It would also be nice to see how many shops bend us over for ammo come 1/2019.

Anyone suggest some place in the south-bay to use to get a CMP Garand?

I asked my usual (Sportsman's Supply) and they quoted me $130.

you're gonna have to be bit more specific, but if you're in the south bay check out farwest photography.

Default FFL for online purchase near Napa/Vallejo area.

Previously used a pawn shop in Fairfield but they closed last year 😪

I don’t mind a drive to south bay but a more local affordable option would be ideal.

Appreciate any help!

Thank you 🙏🏻

What going rate for online transaction s like Buds and GunBroker? I'm in Solano and I've found what I've been searching for on GB and Buds but I don't know a FFL that won't add another 100+ to the cost. Is this the norm?

Anyone know where I can find an FFL to do a FFL to FFL for a reasonable price. I called my normal spot and they wanted $125 a lower plus tax and DROS.

Each firearm is submitted on a separate DROS. Do you mean 4473? Or something else?

Not all transfers are subject to sales tax. C&R from a private party from out of state, in state private sales, CA PPTs, etc.

Sorry, let me clarify. If a person is transfering 2 firearms at the same time, it is $50 for the first and $10 for the second. They are on the same DROS, so there is no additional DROS fee.

And you are right. Those are not subject to sales tax. Firearm transfers to individuals from out of state (that are not gifts), Firearm transfers from in state FFLs that did not collect sales tax for some reason and ammunition transfers are subject to sales tax. There may also be a few others that slip my mind.

No, they are NOT on the same DROS, each firearm is done on a separate DROS. There is only one DROS fee for any number of transactions that are done at the same time.

Sorry, that is what I meant. I know they have different DROS numbers, but it is one DROS fee as they are done simultaneously.

$35 for dealer transfers?
That's standard (legal) OTD for PPT... primary interest of this thread is what the fee is to have something transferred in from out of state.

Sadly not anymore. His landlord put the kibosh on all ammo transfers. Didn't want flammables stacking up in the complex. But yes, Dave is a great go-to guy for all your FFL needs.

Last out of state FFL transfer I did with them was $25 plus DROS and relevant taxes:

Ryenex Outdoor Supply
2575 Chino Hills Pkwy, Ste F
Chino Hills, CA 91709

909 597 0123

They usually have a decent supply of the usual on Roster handguns as well as rifles and shotguns.

I?ve heard great things about FarWest. They are a little bit too far for me, but they sure get good reviews from those who use them.
