I hear it's very quiet and about as accurate as a .22, though without the range of course.

The downside is that a fricken air pump for the thing is like $200 ! But considering the current cost of .22lr ammo, that's making more sense now.

I almost feel like it's deciding to buy an electric car because gas is too expensive!

Anyone switch OR add to their stable with an air rifle?

I ask here because obviously people who love rimfire probably appreciate a good air gun.

And YES, I think this is a dupe of a thread I started a year or two ago! But things have changed and ammo cost is now a factor (even though I have 9k of .22 left)
to the OP - I never gave up shooting my air guns - still have my daisy BB rifle that gets oiled/cleaned & used as well as a few CO2 and pump pistols - got the rifle over 25 years ago and still working great . busting cans in the backyard is a great hobby - I also made a nice bullet trap so I reuse many of those BB if their not to messed up

Back in the day, shot my Crossman 766 (pump) everywhere, I shot it in my Dad's office at a phone book infront of his book case, I shot it DOWN THE DRIVEWAY at a target at the foot of the driveway .... putting many a BB dent in the nieghbours garage door! and At my parents cottage, where many hanging tin cans met their doom.

Now I'd have to shoot from inside my "basement" to the back fence or go to a range. In San Mateo, it's not even legal to shoot slingshots in your backyard! I need to plant some more trees in the back!

^^ the tree stump idea is absolutely brilliant! Hitting end grain will help give the backstop longevity, like a dart board!

I gotta get my backstop done. Just pugs of duct seal in a cake pan, but I don't have a bigger stop for flyers yet.

just got some trigger time and got to sight in my son's Gamo Sporter 500. I put a Winchester 4x32 scope on that thing and even though it's fixed, the scope works perfectly! Good times!

I forgot it was on today, I'll have to watch it tomorrow on the rerun... What did they show today besides us shooting the EBOS?

In other countries where firearms are less or not available, people have used airguns for defense. Not that I would go for an Airgun if I have a powderburner, but it's still better than nothing. I read an article where a guy in Germany was walking home from a friends house and he got jumped by 4 guys armed with knives, chains and baseball bats and the guy who got jumped had a Gamo R77 pellet revolver and he shot at them and the pellets tore through one of the attackers face, shattered his teeth and lodged themselves in the bad guys gums. Anyway, the Airgun did save the day and also there's other events where an Airgun has been used in SD situations. I personally would grab a powder burner way before ever going for an Airgun, but it can be done though. Also looking at history, the Austrians had airguns they used in WW2, Louis and Clark used an Airgun on their expedition across America, farmers in the Philipines use air rifles to defend their crops from thieves etc.

I'm sure he meant as a first choice, they are surely better than a close up weapon, of course the example was a guy on angle dust, who would just walk through it unfazed.

Tazers and powder guns barely slow some of them down.

Yeah that's true. Guys on PCP or something are hard to drop anyway. Maybe a few shots to the eyes at least, but yeah if they are on some kinda superman trip, a pellet or bb gun will most likely just piss em off. In CA, who knows though, airguns might be our future if these anti-gun tyrants have their way...

Any chance you would trade it for a Benjamin NP .177 rifle ?
Comes with the original box ,got it on a trade in, but I like my
Bennie .22 NP and don't need another caliber.
Came with a tin of Premier domes too.

That's a really good deal, but I really need the money right now and I got a buyer 30 minutes away from me, so I'm gonna go with the money. If you want to trade the Benji later for something else or sell it, let me know down the road if you still have it, I just might want to take it off your hands. The Titan is a great small game hunter...

Got some trigger time yesterday with my Hatsan Striker 1000s in .22! That's really a great gun for the money! It's very accurate and kicks like a mule!

Just picked up a marauder .22. I haven't had an airgun since I was 16. I have been looking at pcps for a couple years and pyramyd had pretty good sale going on so I pulled the trigger.

It's quiet, quieter than I expected, you can't even hear the shot over all the hammer and spring noise, which is a little irritating. I didn't get any pics but at 25 yds I was shooting one hole 5 shot groups with h&n dome 5.52's and it was the only pellet I have tried so far.

Anyways just wanted to say hello and that I have drunk the kool-aid and its fricking delicious!
