Default disabled and need help

Hey All,

I am new to Calguns.net and I am looking for some help. I am a quadriplegic who was shot when I was 14.I still believe in gun right despite what happened to me. My friends are into going to the range and shooting. I realy feel left out. I found a site that has adaptive equipment but it is kind of pricey. Can anyone help or have ideas? please help.

Hi Kevin:

Just a suggestion to get more response and advice... can you post links or images of the adaptive equipment you are speaking of?

Perhaps some skilled members here could fabricate a similar setup for you if they could see what you are wanting.

Good luck!

Hi Kevin welcome to the board. Do you have movement of your head or only some features of the face?

I know these are expensive and you may have seen these. Here is one alternative. (http://www.beadaptive.com) Maybe this will also help fellow CGer's in adding more suggestions.

Sorry to hear about your disabilities. My friend was recently seriously injured in a motocross crash and he is a C5 incomplete.

What is your level of injury and what do you have working? My friend has his arms, but no hand dexterity at all, so its hard for him to operate anything like a cell phone, video game controller etc.

Hey thanks for the feedback. I am a C5-6 Quad and I can move my head well. I was shot in my right shoulder and through neck so I have limited use of right arm, but full left. Ya I don't have finger use either. The equipment is from beadaptive.com they have great stuff and I know it would work. I think the set up I need would be around $700 total Not sure what to do. Fundraising? I just don't know. Got a itchy trigger finger just want to be apart of something. Thanks or responding.

It'd be great if one of the mods of the CalGuns forum could set something up for us to donate to Kevin to help him get going.

Kevin, you could set up an account with a service like gofundme.com

If you do that and post back here, you'd find a lot of support.

My brother has that setup. It takes allot of constant adjusting for his AR. He uses the bite mechanism trigger. Start saving up like my brother did and you'll be shooting soon

That tugs at the heart strings, I used to drive a bus and often picked up disabled passengers, one that really got to me was a blind passenger, he was in his 20 he was an owner of a small grocery store, he walked in on it being robbed, someone but a gun to his head and said dont move, well something spooked him and he jerked and the guy shot him, dropped all the money and ran, you could hear it in his voice how heart broken he was, he said I'm blind for no reason they didnt even take the money and ill never see again, he's in his 50's now, I know I'm thread jacking but it just one of those things that gets to me,

If I was close I would be more then happy to help in any way I could, I don't have near as much skill as most the Guys here but every little bit counts

Maybe start a PayPal for donations to get this thing rolling

If this gets setup and has proof that this is real I am in for whatever I can do. Let's get proof and a donation setup and do what a community is supposed to. It is time for all the REAL CG FAMILY to come out of the wood works. Spread the word guys.

I sent a PM to one of the C3 folks last night and am waiting to hear back. Though I'm willing to help with the effort, I'm hoping that the Ventura chapter can take lead on this; it would be much easier that way. I will follow up this evening if I haven't heard anything by then.

Ventura County here. Not C3 leader (hmm... that reminds me), but what were your thoughts, I'd help.

Oh and welcome Kevrok805 and good luck!

Was just thinking it would be easier to have someone from up there meet with him and assess his needs. There will always be a few skeptics and this would help ease their concerns. Once that's done, we can go from there.

I am in Ventura. I would understand any skeptics, but I am 100% legit. I went to shooters paradise today for the first time to try out my Mossberg. Though my buddy had to shoot it. It got me pumped though. You can hit me up on Facebook Kevin Rj Natale. You guys are awesome! Mycell is (805) 616-1136

Spoke to Kevin he is going to email me exactly what he needs and I'll get it ordered tomorrow. Depending on how soon I can get the equipment he should be shooting very soon.

Spoke to the compamy and they called Kevin directly to know exactly what he needed and got it all ordered. They said they'll ship tomorrow and I should have it by end of next week. After I get it I'll fly up to Kevin and we'll go to the range and have some fun, I have a few guns he'll like shooting

If anyone wants to setup a fund lets do it and get this guy a new gun to go with it all!

Now THAT'S how you do it! Outstanding! Not familiar with the logistics of setting up a fund like that, but I'll definitely pitch in. I'll research it a bit this evening and if anyone can point me in the right direction, please do!
