Just got my gun a few weeks ago and just started shooting. Interested in camraderie, mentorship, fun, and helping to support our rights here in California. I live in Los Angeles. Interested in joining and getting involved with the local community.

LOL. I live in Brentwood and have been shooting at LAX Shooting Range. I forgot that this is more of a local forum so people actually will know where you are talking about geographically. Thanks!

Where do you live and where do you shoot? What are you shooting? I'm just using a 9mm Glock 19.

I never realized how draconian the law are here for gun owners in California compared to other states until I bought my first one a few weeks ago. If you live in LA county, you basically can't get a concealed carry as a civilian (unless you are buku bucks rich or a celebrity I've heard), and the 10 round magazine limit doesn't make sense to me at all. We literally have guns that were designed to fire stock magazines with more rounds, and yet we can't get them. Civilians also can't get the Gen 4 Glocks. None of this makes any sense to me? I've been involved with other biker rights organizations like ABATE, so I know how hard it is to put up the fight for our rights. I just didn't realize how bad we had it here. Meanwhile, I have very close friends who are able to carry concealed in 33 states.

You can get a CCW that is good in 30+ other states via Arizona. Just need to take a class and send in the registration, prints and $60 fee. Class prices will vary but figure on spending about $200 for the initial permit. After than you just pay a renewal fee of $43 (currently) every 5 years. Everything can be done via mail. AZ includes reciprocity with Nevada and Utah but does not give you the right to carry in CA. If you want Florida included then you would want to go through them to get it but currently they do not have reciprocity with NV and the fee is about double that though the term is 7 years instead of 5.

thats the hardest thing. trying to explain the laws to new shooters. i have took a few friends to the range and they always think i am joking with them when i try to explain them.

CGSSA is always looking for help, but you need to pay attention and keep volunteering. So much to do and so little time. And California is a huge state.

Do you bring any additional skills with you? Marketing, Advertising, Writing, Range Safety Officer, Certified Instructor? We can use more help!!

I'm in Alhambra and I goto angeles shooting range,LAgunclub,oaktree,burro canyon or out to blm area. I shoot a few glocks and a sig all in 9mm and also the ar15.
