What? Pray & spray not gonna work?

I'm gonna remove to front sight plug to install a rail for a MBUS. Then maybe a small scope, Mueller APV or something. Then I might change the foreend to a rail, maybe not, just for a bipod. We'll see.

1 mag, no sights at all. Cheapest way to go would be the MI front sight and any AR-15 rear BUI (such as a magpul MBUS or go really cheap with something like Leapers.

Very nice cuda, but you need to rebuild that mag into a "fleshed out" Black Dog mag.

And soon to follow will be a nice paint job!

Gio I am all sorts of fired up about this rifle, you have no idea. I have always wanted a SIG, 10 day wait is killing me. Honestly, is the 10 wait necessary for rimfire? Or all guns for that matter? In a free state you can walk out same day with it!

They are far superior to GSGs I own both, accuracy is close but the 522 breaks down with no tools in under 1 minute, easy to clean just better build quality all around. I love it.

I have a GSG5 and I love it. I will admit that the factory stock set is crap and that the gun WAS NOT plug and play. It had some issues. So what. Sorted that stuff out. Still love it. With HK skinny forened and folding stock it rocks. Handled Sig 522, liked it, very nice. Prefer GSG5 because of the look, handling, heft.

Isn't your 10 day wait over yet?

I'll post a couple pics of mine on the 15th. Won't be nothing fancy, just bone stock with a red/green dot site for starters.

The next mod will be ammo.

Yes, I have it in hand, I have pictures, but I am waiting on some final parts before posting pictures! I want to show it off in its fnal form, not semi completed...

I also have some pictures of range trip this weekend, will post that at the same time and quick review.

All I can say is the gun functioned flawlessly, put 250 rounds through it, and was shooting great groups at 50 yards with Blazer. I am very happy with the optics I put on it. As soon as I get that rail kit from Sig, I will get everything mounted. I am hoping I can do this tomorrow (Fingers crossed!)

I have been going through my parts pile looking for anything I am not using I can throw on there and will be good and functional for the rifle. I might even put a laser sight on it, who knows? Got an extra green laser I took off one of my ARs I could use. I didnt like it on my AR build cause of the weight, and the cheapness of the laser (its one of those $100 lasers) but it would be perfect for rimfire at close ranges on camping trips and what not.

Regarding ammo, midway has a fair amount of 22lr in stock, I ordered a couple thousand rounds and a midway softcase (the 35" one) which is on sale for I believe $30-35.

Sounds cool. Do they have bulk Federal or any other bulk packs of 22? Did you order your rails online from Sig directlly or from the dealer? I hate mail order a LOT for anything, so I'm hoping I can get them through the Sig dealer. Might be a few bucks more but I don't care.

I got so pissed (tired really) at not finding any 22 ammo I went to Walmart and got 6 boxes of .40 S&W. I don't even own a .40 but I'm buying one in the Morning. Will probally get a Sig P226 in two tone and usuing hogue rubber fingered grips. I'm also thinking of getting the GSG-5 pistol but I don't think you can buy 3 guns within 30 days??

I got the rails directly from SIG. After looking everywhere for them I couldnt find them in stock anywhere so I just sacked up and bought them. Sadly,Fedex tried to deliver them today when i was not home, so I called in and had them change delivery address to my work. So, I should get them tomorrow.

For 22lr, I placed an order with midway, got 4 500 rounds value packs of Armscor for about $23 each.

Got my Rail Kit today (they are plastic for any of you wondering), looks like they are made out of the same material as the Swiss style handguard, I will compare them better for you when I get home and mount them. They are contoured to hit the peaks and valleys of the handguard where they attach, serving as added rigidity against horizontal movement on the handguard.

Once I get them mounted tonight I will post some pics of my rifle as well as a shot of what it can do at 50 yards.

Sorry for the bad pictures, I am in the process of moving and my entire place is torn up. The only place I could snap pictures was in my bathroom where space was limited and the lighting sucked.

The rig is:

Sig 522
Sig 556 Rail kit for Swiss handguards (plastic)
Grip-Pod (steel reinforced legs)
AIM Green laser (had it lying around figured why not?)
Primary Arms 1-4x illuminated scope and mount
Magpul XTM rail panels
Hogue grip

I love this little plinker!

Tragically, I lost this gun in a boating accident yesterday...

Looks great! How are those Hogue slip on grips working? Do they stayy put pretty good?

I was wondering is it legal to have that vertical grip on the front or do you have to get the $200 stamp for that grip?

the evil features law does not apply to rimfire. Take a look at the GSG-5 pictures here to see what I mean

The hogue grip was taken off my Remington 870's pistol grip, so it was kinda stretched out when i put it on, seems to be tightening up again nicely now. I really like the feel of it and it fits the contours of the Sig pistol grip really well.

Is it possible to swap out the grips for some AR-15 grips?

Yes but the grip itself will require modification including dremmeling and drilling. I chose to just throw a slip on hogue grip onto mine and call it a day. That's the easy way to do it. There are a number of threads out there that document how to do this conversion though, apparently the Magpul MOE pistol grip is a great candidate.

Thanks, I would've done the same. Not the best with tools. What about the stock? How is it secured on there? Any way of changing out stocks?

I hope they release a "fish gill" fore end + collaps. stock at Shot. Not really feeling the look of the classic 556.

You can already do this another member did it and said he got the fish gill on a sig forum for like $20 and they are available often there. He posted pics of it somewhere in the rimfire section. The stock that comes with the rifle is a 3 position collapsible, folding stock.

Well i picked up my 522 Friday and man i can wait to shoot it. put my red/green dot scope on it and looks and feels really nice. I'm picking up my other Sig today, so I'll get some pics up later tonight. I'm still playing around with setting up my new safe/glorified storage cabinet.

Still think I'm going to get a bottom pic rail eventually for the front and throw on a laser.
