Default FYI: Some kind of incident at target masters west

I was down at Target Masters ~ 9:30pm - both entrances to parking blocked by several police cars, and looked like a fire truck too. Seems like it's worth calling ahead if you're planning on going tonight.

Yeah just saw a FB post on this from someone I know was 6 feet from him. I don't have anymore details other than it was a "potential suicide"

Target Masters for ya. I won't go near the place anymore. It's just not worth it.

Update from friend who was there:

Quote:
Friends said he asked them to go with him. . . then at the lane he said to them "dont stand behind me" and after they moved they saw a body on the ground. Yes it was Target Masters.

That's sad. They're good folks at TargetMasters.
Sending prayers for the guy, his friends, and the folks who had to witness and clean up.

Yikes! Regardless of the circumstance, it is sad when something like that happens. Even though I don't frequent TM, thoughts go out to the friends and the staff there.

major face palm..

My wife and I met some new enthusiasts last nite at Solar Tactical, and mentioned that TMW can get a lil sketchy during busy hours..

wasn't expecting this (and I believe this is the second time in less than 10 yrs) to occur.

My sincere condolences to everyone involved. Very SAD.

I was there during the incident. While PD and Paramedics was examining the victim, I was doing TargetMasters Handgun safety demo. We were not allowed to leave the building until authorized by MPD. Staff handled the situations professionally, calm and quick.

Thanks for the heads-up. I usually go in on Wednesdays for the $5 lane and gun rentals. This is sad to hear, and I feel bad for the nice group of people that work there.

Wow sad to hear. I thought there were measures in place to prevent stuff like this from happening, like not renting a gun to individuals who go to a shooting range by themselves (unless they bring in their own handgun). I guess where there's a will, there's a way. RIP

Not again. Feel sorry for all those who had to witness this go down. Unfortunately, TM has a history of this happening. Was my go to range when I lived in the area. Very sad indeed.

Agree. But man, the range/shop will have to be closed for a little bit and there are many other implications, including lost business for the range/shop.

This is the 4th one of these gun shop suicides around the US I've seen around various forums in the last 2 weeks.

It's so very sad. It's not the fault of TMW. That would be like blaming the weapon. There must be a more significant reason for having his friends there. I mean, he didn't need them just to rent the firearm. He needed witnesses. Of the two ranges I visit most frequently, TMW has a very young crowd. Do we know the age of the self induced victim?

I wonder if he shot himself with his own gun or if he actually brought a friend to rent a gun. If it's the latter, then I feel bad for his companion. That's not something you can forget easily.

Most ranges has the rule of not renting gun to someone coming in solo. From other thread it seems he ask a friend to go with him so he can rent. Tells you if one is determined, no amount of rule is enough to prevent this kind of crap from happening.

If one is determined, jumping off a bridge can be done too. But i guess if he was going to die, better not do it at home, and other people's troubles be damned. Or maybe just another democrat trying to make a point.

Target Masters refuses to rent guns unless you have a buddy with you, or you have your own gun with you (i.e. you could commit suicide with that anyway if they refused). This is true for most (if not all) ranges in the bay area that do rentals.

really? that's kinda smart since id guess that most people wouldn't kill themselves in front of their friends.
