Default Ammogeddon... July 1st, 2019 - Scatter Guns, etc

Thankfully, my buddies were terrible influences on me and got me (hooked) into reloading a few years ago. Recently, I realize the only ammo I haven't stocked up on is scatter gun (shotgun) ammo for skeet/clays.

Granted, it's been a few years since I went out to Pardo to shoot skeet. However, I'm now wondering if I should stock up on some 12GA even though realistically, it will be a while till I get back there again. I'm thinking if I go there or any other range, I should be able to purchase some ammo there?

Currently, I can't justify getting into reloading shotgun ammo since I shoot far more pistol and rifle ammo instead. But I'm now thinking, only my shotgun will be vulnerable to the ongoing California circus laws. Funny how this crap law is making me interested in skeet again.

I've been hitting up Walmart for the 100 rd boxes for the past couple of years. At my present rate of consumption I have enough to last... umm... forever.

I don't know if you could actually reload 12GA at $22/100?

Too much ammo?! Too many unicorns?! Buy it. Hard to beat Wally World. If there's a doubt, just buy.

go buy winchester AAs at walmart right now, and get the $2/box rebate. you'll get premium ammo at bargain prices, and the hulls are reloadable if you ever want to get into that.

in general it's hard to beat walmart prices unless you buy components in very large quantities. even then it might only be $0.25-$0.50 cheaper. you will get a higher quality shell though through reloading that can be custom loaded to your preferences.

Beetle, I like the idea of being able to reload the hulls down the road, thanks for the heads up on the rebate off too.

Yes, you can and yes, I do.
But it does require deal shopping, stacking deep, etc.
I do not think it makes sense for someone to get into reloading 12ga if they were not already a volume shotgunner and reloaded for some of the other gauges where the math makes much more sense (basically anything other than 12 or 20).
