I agree, Ruger needs to come out with a Convertible (.22LR/.22WMR) version.

Going in to pre-order one from Turners today. Can't decide on the color.

22 Mag would be sweet. Cool offering though.

There's a pop up on goggle about this gun. The black one looks nice, I'm liking the burnt bronze. Maybe one of each.

This is much nicer than my Rough Rider, however, it cost twice as much. If I were to do it again I would buy the Wrangler, no doubt better quality and probably a great 22lr revolver. What I do like about my Rider is for a $100 I really don't care what happens to it, and it's really accurate.

I preordered a bronze one today. I told my wife about it and she said "Let me get it for you."

The guys at Turner's said Bronze is the most popular color.

I love Ruger SA revolvers and own several. No manufacturer holds a candle to their durability. They really do strike the balance between durability and quality at the right price.

I ordered a bronze one at Turners. I chose the bronze to bring some light into the darkness of all the tactical black firearms in my safe. After tax and DROS, it's was $229.83 OTD.

I challenge anyone here to name a NEW (not a great used deal) revolver that can rival a Wrangler that is, of similar quality at the same price.

My NAA mini cost more than a Wrangler, and it handles CCI Stingers! The wrangler will be a peach to shoot. The wrangler will also be the revolver you keep for self defense when age catches up to you and you can no longer tolerate a centerfire caliber. I can't wait for mine.

Ended up going with black. If the cylinders were the same color as the frame I would have considered burnt bronze or silver.

Mine came out to $193.XX after tax, will have to pay $30 for dros once it comes in. They wouldn't let me pay the dros ahead of time.

Yeah. They can't dros it if the gun isn't there. I think I'll wait to hold one before I buy. I'd probably buy two of them, match up with the two 22lr lever guns I have.

Please let us know how you like it.

Default No Ruger Wrangler thread yet?

Didn't see a thread after a search so here it goes...

Ruger's new Single-Six style cerakoted .22LR looks like it may be a low cost winner. Basically, all parts are Aluminum except the cylinder and barrel (of course), and it comes stock with a free-spin pawl. Like the S&W pinto style two-tone looks on 2 of the 3 models.

Gunblast did a very positive review on the gun with exceptional accuracy, and one thing he mentioned is that the original cost of the single six in the '50s is nearly double of that after inflation to the $249 MSRP Wrangler.

Might have to piggy-back one on my Lipsey's order once ready.

keep in mind Gunblast has not met a gun that they did not review well.
But Ruger should make a decent aluminum version of a single action 22 LR

Other reviews suggest the fit/finish and relative action are superior to the heritage, and you can see that flush fitment in the video vs. what seems like bad masonry junctions in the other.

At the price I’ll give it a try for sure and already made the call for three total (two for family). If the first run is as good as the review it’s half the price of a CZ Kadet conversion in its own proprietary non-conversion platform.

As a devout SA fan, I am still skeptical but want in on one for sure. If anything, and assuming it’s a hit for Ruger, which seems to be the case in terms of orders and sold guns on major auction sites, think of the R&D/cool new toy revenue for Ruger.

Combined cost, i’ve spent as much for free wheel pawl (which comes stock with the wrangler), belt mountain base pin, and a drop-in SBH hammer.

I was in Turner's the other day and they were still taking orders. I think for that price, I'll have to go for one. I'm thinking the silver model.

Thanks @jeffrice6

They were saying that the wrangler is such a success that Ruger has so many on preorder that they have already pushed the shipment date out twice. The manager said i may not get the first batch, but as soon as mine is in they will let me know. That's just the hear say i got today when they took my money ;p

Fondled several of them at the NRA convention. They feel pretty good but there were a couple of things. First, the grips seem a little thin. Not a problem but noticeable. Second, the loading gate on 4 different ones all are stiff. The surface of the loading gate is rather small and feels a little pointy. Noticed that I could feel the sharpness of the loading gate. Think it might have a lot to do with the size across compared to a loading gate on a Single-Six/Single-Ten. Other than that, they locked up nicely and the trigger pull felt good. And you can't beat the price.

Walked the people I was with from seeing the Wrangler at the Ruger booth over to the Heritage Arms booth to check out the Rough Rider. All of them preferred the Wrangler.

I don't know if it was posted yet, but Gunblast Jeff Quinn posted that the Single Six 22Mag cylinder fits the Wrangler. He has two for testing that I think he's keeping.

Specifically he found his fit...

"I took the magnum cylinder from a New Model Single-Six Hunter, and it dropped right in, had a proper barrel/cylinder gap, and fired perfectly. I don't recommend something without trying it first."

I like the bronze when I saw them but can't get over the different color cylinder. Might just get the black version.

I saw a Wrangler video review in which the reviewer said he had asked a Ruger representative about using the 22 mag. The rep said that based upon the frame material, it was a not recommended.

Saw the lighter frame and thought I'd probably not try using the magnum cylinder. Ruger probably has a good reason to only release it with the .22 LR cylinder.

Just passing along what Jeff Quinn did... I'm sure if you check one out and the frame is made of Zamak 5 it is pretty obvious. Jeff must like to live dangerously. I'd side with Ruger recommendations too, but I haven't even seen one in person. Undecided so far... want one of course. Already have Ruger .22 revolver.

You'd think if a Heritage Rough Rider can handle 22mag, Ruger's new Wrangler probably should too.

Only the grip frame is made of Zamak. The cylinder frame is made of aluminum alloy. 22 Long rifle and 22 Winchester Magnum rimfire both operate at the same pressure (24,000psi).

I wonder if that is due to ammo quality. I've never had that happen to me and my 43 year old Super Single Six and that has included several all-day shooting sessions (mostly Winchester or Federal ammo).

Yep, they are Zamak too, including the cylinder frame. I bet Ruger’s aluminum frame is stronger. But I’ve never ran the 22mag cylinder in my Heritage and probably wont.

I've put several boxes of 22WMR of different brands and bullet weights thru this Heritage and it hasn't blown up yet. I enjoy the extra punch of the magnum ammo.

Thatís weird, Iím fairly certain my Heritage RR has a steel frame. Iíve used the magnum cylinder with no problems.
