Good to hear you had a successful shoot with those RDF's. I was on 30 with the range medics. Yeah, I had a decent day too. This was my 3rd time out shooting F-TR, normally shoot Service Rifle with M14. As long as I improve my score and/or learn something everytime that's my goal. Yesterday was 541-4X and still figuring wind. The 10 ring is a lot less forgiving in F class than in Service Rifle.

It sure is. I'd like to say that reduction in X ring size is a problem but iron sights is not easy either.

Funny thing is Marc Mittry can out shoot nearly everyone there regardless of classification and he's a sling shooter. Irons or optics he can shoot.

As for the wind. Yesterday wasn't bad. It was switchy and unsettled but not to bad.
If you want to see some wind reading, come over to the LR side on 117A on a windy day and when the HM drops 6-12 points you know it's a bad day. But those guys can shoot in 12-18mph wind and shoot very high scores.
They look down range, you look down range, they make a wind call and are spot on, you make a call and you're in the 7 ring and you just go "what are you looking at? Are you looking at the same thing I am?"
It's comical,

So my Nosler 175 loads with 43.5 IMR 4064 did well enough at 8, 9, and 1000yds. Elevation held level at 1K but my wind reading is where I need the work. My waterline extended across the X from the 7 ring to the opposite 7 ring. Ran short of ammo in the end, so DNF. The 7 ring is 44" diameter and they all stayed in the black though, so it's a decent start. A few guys commented since I really don't have a good set-up for F-class I'm struggling with my equipment, but I was just running what I got.

That's how I started, I showed up and shot, first match I shot I walked away with a 171 or so..,
Everybody gets so range shy, just show up and shoot.
I need work on my wind as well but everyone does so don't feel bad.
