Default Is my internet being monitored after gun/silencer search?

So past couple weeks I have been restarting an old hobby of mine ..guns... So i looked up every topic about what gun to get etc also silencers (I like not having to wear much ear protection)..noticed they are super expensive then read about home made ones to see if they are cheaper..all the way to eBay which sells em from china. After that I looked up what I need to do legally then realized they are not even allowed in this state.. so stopped reading about it and moved on.

However since then I noticed that my internet speed is suddenly super slow, things don't load fast anymore especially when I am on https gun sites or gun related forums.

So then I turned on my VPN (basically program I need for work but which heavily encrypts all web traffic which technically should slow things a little bit down) and guess what, all the gun sites suddenly load super fast. Internet is as snappy again as it ever was. That is through the same connection.

What I want to know is how do I get off that internet slow down list? I don't feel like having to run everything via VPN moving forward just to have a somewhat decent internet.

Am I just paranoid or is it a coincidence or has anyone experiences the same?

Everything on the internet is tracked and neatly catalogued already. Visiting gun websites doesn’t change anything.

VPN software can make a lot of websites load faster because it blocks all the tracking cookies and other intrusive metrics features from loading. It’s pretty amazing to see all the other things going on when you visit an average website, especially e-commerce sites.

BTW, the OP might want to be somewhere besides home on early Sunday morning. BATFE might be stopping by for a chat.

The really cool part will start when the brownshirts go to the wrong Roger Stone house and get capped on live TV. Then the game will be on. Think of internet monitoring as a tool. Use it. Love it. Hate the human pinheads who think it's their power.

Or simply go about your daily business. Plenty of choices in life.

Well there is that dude that googled pressure cookers after the boston marathon and the Feds paid his family a visit. However supposedly it was because they were googling that stuff at their work and got reported because they just got fired.

Check your vehicle to see if there s a GPS tracker installed. Especially if you own a Jeep.

Thx... well I am not really a tinfoil type of guy.. besides I think some monitoring is ok.. there's just too many ****ed up people out there and law enforcement needs to have a way to spot things early.

That being said my work in the past has given me some insights into these agencies and there IS a lot more monitoring going on than people realize - it just is that way. What I wrote is not unreasonable to think - and no that's not a conspiracy theory but based on past experiences around my work.

Anyway but probably the ad tracking stuff that's disabled via vpn maybe is causing the speedup/slowdown...

...have to say though as a newbie in this forum I am a bit surprised how hostile some responses here have been... not sure it's worth to stick around if that's how things are here... constant ridicule... I guess time to check out some other places...

You're fine haha. I'm sure you're not going to get raided for a Google search. Just don't buy any Glock switches from Wish.

Thread title fail.

My internet is always being monitored.

There, I fixed it for you.

Everything you do is being monitored and cataloged.

Good thing there is so much data and so few people able to actually access it.

I think you should read up on firearms laws on both state and fed level before posting about your connection speed and/or attempt to build or purchase a regulated item for your firearm.

Silencers and machine guns do not violate FBI or ATF since neither are illegal federally and therefore most states.

Online surveillance is usually reserved for child porn. Even Cal DOJ has no surveillance resources for silencers or other gun related searches. I remember gun buyers after Roberti Roos were so worried that just asking gun shops what mods were legal or illegal was by itself illegal.

No one is going to slow your service for looking up gun stuff.

They only things your ISP might throttle your service on would be stuff like downloading torrents and even then that is kind of rare, depends on your ISP and how much and what you are downloading.

Is it only your internet performance that is slowed? If your pc is also slow you might have got you some junk running in the background sucking up your processing power. CTRL + ALT + Delete to pull up your task manager, and see what all is running in the background. Is there something there using a lot of memory that is not something you need or want?

Is it only certain sites that are slow now and others are normal?
That would be a bit odd. Try clearing your cach. CTRL + H to bring up the history page, find the advanced tab and choose to clear out all the junk, temp stuff, chached images etc. Clear it all out other than saved passwords, autofill unless you do not mind typing that stuff all back in next time you log on to each site.

Go to speedtest.net and do a speed test and see if your getting lower speeds than you are supposed to.

And if you have any issues such as proven low net speeds either overall or on specific type pages, get on the phone and call your ISP and talk to a tech, You pay them, they work for you. tell them your issue and tell them you want to know why your internet is slow or if they are throttling your connection at all. Let them know you have an issue and if they can not clear it up you are happy to switch to a different provider.

Don't forget to try rebooting your modem/router as well.
