Default Hungarian Dragunov FEG-18 interest list

Just want to let my fellow Calgunners know of a "group buy" happening at the AKForum of a Hungarian copy of the Dragunov. They need at least 100 people to show interest for FEG to consider importing their Dragunov.

I can't see how these cannot be made featureless for CA by audiophil or EBR Works.

This is not a modified AK to look like a Dragunov. Different gas system, different bolt, etc.

This is the thread at the AKForum:
https://www.theakforum.net/forums/41...ing-rifle.html

The price has not yet been determined.

Interested, hopefully others will comment to better understand the feasibility of getting these into Kali.

Chinese SVD $3000+
Converted Russian Tiger $5000+
Genuine Russian SVD $10000+

Someone on AKFiles says the Hungarian SVD is going to be $3000 to $3500. But don't hold me to that

Comes standard with a 10 round magazine.

Munkeeboi's grip wrap:

(pic is of a PSL, but I'm sure he can do one for an SVD)

Here is a pic I found of a Tiger with a grip wrap:

I'm not sure. In the past, MFIAP has been very accommodating to my needs and most likely can alter the thread pattern on their SVD-style muzzle brake to fit your needs:

I have been shipping PSLs into CA with the stock removed since it is still over 30". That is the cheapest way to do it. If the muzzle device is not a flash hider it can stay on.
Customers can also drop ship wraps to me for install. I do not charge a fee to install wraps, spin off muzzle devices, or remove a few stock screws so it is just transfer fee and shipping.

I've always wanted an actual SVD copy. I really hope they bring these to market. If they are priced reasonably, I can see them selling really well. Especially since the new PSLs they're importing are selling for the ridiculous price they were selling for when they weren't being imported, and in my opinion, isn't as nice nor as desirable.

As a collectable and a fun gun, I'd pay maybe $2000 give or take for one. But for $3800, it just isn't worth it for me. It's not like these are match grade rifles or anything, they are doing the same thing Century is doing with the PSL. They are looking at how much older collectable ones are going for and pricing them similarly. For $4k, you could get a MUCH better rifle.

I totally agree with this. Don't get me wrong I love my feg ak and I feel it's built better than most other aks on the market, but forking out 3-4k for one of these just doesn't make financial sense. There are better options for the $$.

I pretty much agree here. But I collect AKs and I would love to have this for the collector's value. I'm not looking at for some sub moa 54r rifle. I just have an affinity for these types of guns.

That said, if the price is closer to that of Tigr's, then I'll have to drop out. But we'll see. Wishful thinking and all that.

That price point puts me out of the market, however I hope the rest of you guys who can afford it get some of these. Good luck!

SVD flashhiders are generally one piece with the front sight post.

Not sure how it can be made featureless without switching the front sight post with a Tigr - any thoughts?

From what the guy on akfiles was saying, either they would have a cover over the flash hider, making it non-effective, or they would import them as pistols. Don't see how importing them as pistols would make any sense at all. Can't see anyone wanting a sub 16" barrel SVD.

Here’s a post on arf.com from the guy who is putting the production together in Hungary:
https://www.ar15.com/forums/General/...223514/?page=3

Yes, the PSL is no Dragunov.

Yes, there are many cheaper and newer Western guns that can do better. This gun is for collectors, really.

If someone could machine a sleeve to slide over the flash hider and a set screw that would probably work. Maybe put some fake flash hider cuts on it for looks similar to the Polytech M14s.

The talk of RUAG making x54r match grade ammo doubles my interest.

Indeed. Unfortunately, it seems everything they bring in is going to be massively overpriced.

Nice vepr Hunter, I would've liked to get one in 54r when they were still a little more abundant

Would this be a direct import of the original, or a locally-manufactured rifle from an imported parts kit?

This is an original Russian built Vepr Hunter in 7.62X54R and considered to be the highest quality receiver on the Kalashnikov designed RPK machine gun. Manufactured at the Vyatskie Polyany Machine Building Plant (a.k.a. "MOLOT"). Molot .

Hand made full length walnut stock
•RPK-type receiver with extra reinforcements and a thicker receiver and barrel
•Came with (2) 5rd
•Hammer forged fluted heavy barrel, chrome lined barrel bore, chamber, gas block and gas piston
•Push button safety
•Improved separate trigger mechanism
•Three locking lug bolt
•Spring loaded firing pin
•Integrated muzzle brake,
•Serial number matched quick detach scope mount

Can be found once in awhile on GunBroker around $1,200 to $1,500

I use PPU (prvi partizan) 150gr. sp bt and get solid 3", 5 shot groups at a 100 yd. using a Ultradot scope.
