Well for those that went through in the last 10 years, at what point is it over the head games phase, and it's just training from there out

Yep, and he sounds fine in his letters so far
In one he even said the last 3 weeks have gone by pretty fast

Seems all the letters are not getting to him, which is really weird, all addressed exactly the same (I print labels), his latest letter suggests he has gotten only 2 or 3 letters from me, none from his brother, we all send separately, sending probably 5 a week all together, weird for him to think we are barely writing

So, in 3rd phase, the platoons took turns on fire watch while the other platoons would go to chow, etc. The day before an inspection, we gathered dirt and poured it into the other platoon's rifles! Just a tad here, a tad there! LOL!

you can reserve only wed/thu, at which point you must bring the graduating recruit with you to checkin and extend the stay through friday, then you have to have the graduating recruits last 4 of social, which i didnt have handy, so had to call back, then, as she was requesting information for who was staying, i realized my oldest is active duty, and can be the sponsor, giving us through friday, now dont need the social that i had to go search for. all set, it was a long wait on hold, almost 35 minutes, must be only that one person on the phones. i'll make my daughter get her own room, since she is eligible too.

When I was in MCRD it seemed like we never got mail. Then on Sunday I would be given six or seven letters and once a box of cookies from grandma that was enough everyone got three.

My two oldest children joined the Navy and Boot Camp was in Chicago. You will not believe all the hoops they have you jump thru. The first time was crazy. But for the second graduation it was easy since his active duty sister sponsor everything.

Anyway, he went to MEPS and will fly to San Diego in the morning to catch up with those that shipped yesterday

Ahh, the good old gas chamber, good times. While it did suck big ones I had a bad sinus infection for a few weeks in boot camp, the gas chamber cleared that right up.

Ten more days until Family Day and Graduation. So any plans for a CalGuns meet up near MCRD on Wed. or Thurs. evening? Couple of places close by. Oggi's Pizza, Stone Brewery, Harbortown Pub, Old Town.

Couple of useless stories to go with MCRD.

1. About 3 months ago I go down to The Noodles & Company to pick up dinner for wife and I. There was a family in front of me with Mom/Dad/Sister of a Marine shirt on and I ask them how Family Day was. They said great and I asked them where they were from. They said a little town north of Boise, ID. I answered would that be Emmett and they are shocked that that I correctly guessed. I said my sister is a teacher and lives in Emmett. Give them her name and the daughter says she had her two years prior. Small world.

2. Last Friday I dropped off my dry cleaning right across from MCRD. So happened it was exactly 8 and the Friday Colors ceremony was just kicking off and the bugle call started. I stopped and listened while facing the Depot. After I finished I walked into the dry cleaner and the attendant asked if I was Military. Replied no, just a Dad of a Marine and I stop out of respect for what they do. He agreed.

Due to work issues of various family members, we can't go until Wednesday night, and have to leave Friday, won't get a lot of time for much else, I invite/welcome everyone to come to the graduation, Friday the 7th

Yes, he's in middle of crucible now, the FB folks say they are filming today.
Tomorrow is when he gets awarded the globe/anchor, and is a Marine, assuming all goes well of course, which I have no doubt it will

Warrior breakfast tomorrow. Ice cream, cake and steak in that order. I'm sure he'll dig the hike back from the reaper.

Congrats on your new Marine
