My investigator let me do that in December but told me it goes away 1/1/24

To clarify: there would not be new permits with a spouse's gun after that date but also that I would have to drop it when I renewed.

Every single one of them is asking an astronomical amount for a renewal class. I am still waiting to hear back about Ben Clark.

My order is still waiting to be assigned to a processor. I started my renewal on 1/22.

How long is a qualification form good for?

Can I put a handgungun that?s been owned since the late 80?s on my LTC?

Qualification forms (and class certificates) are good for 12 months for the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.

For guns, my understand is that the gun will have needed to be DROS'd to you here in CA. But that's something you should ask the Sheriff's Department. They get back to you pretty quickly over email.

Unless you want to pay the price gougers right now, best bet is to wait until you hear back from the IA. They will set you up for requal at Ben Clark. Though expect a LONG wait. I still haven't heard back and I started my requal process end of January.

They will do that automaticly? Yes, so far its 200-300 range. But now theres alot more to it then my last couple of renewals. Hope i get something done before my CCW expires.

Thanks for the reply.

My wife is taking her renewal thus weekend through the Sheriff's Palm Desert office. Cost is $150.00.

To get signed up with one of the Sheriff classes, one has to apply for the renewal AND THEN call the RSO CCW line to request to be signed up for their next class. They sometimes respond to emails but someone has always seemed to answer their direct office phone or at least call you back the same day if you leave a VM.

I submitted my own renewal application in early February, took a renewal class through a local vendor for $245 bucks and got all my stuff uploaded to Permitium. My status has been "assigning to processor shortly" the whole time. My CCW expires at the end of June.

I'm planning on waiting til I'm 90 days out from expiration before I start calling/emailing for status updates.

I just got the email for Ben Clark Tuesday, got into the Saturday class on 3/23. $150 like Maulerrr said, ALOT more reasonable than the other options. I think Ben Clark is better to due to the fact it's run by the same people who issue the CCW. Less fud to be thrown and it's basic and direct.

Just got approved for renewal. CCW was set to expire 06/25.

01/25 - renewal app submitted
02/09 - took renewal class with local vendor
02/12 - uploaded certificate and qual sheet
03/26 - notified of APPROVAL

My status was always "assigning to processor shortly" from the date of my application through at least this past weekend when last I checked.

Yeah, my previous renewal was just like that too. But back then we were still doing phone or in-persons interviews depending on the COVID atmosphere.

Based on my experience with applications over the last handful of years, I'd recommend everyone to just submit your renewal application right away when you hit the 6 month mark even if you're missing some documents. You can always upload any required documentation like a utility bill or course certificate again at a later time if it takes a few weeks or month to get those lined up. But at least your number will be in line for review.

I heard Fortune Firearms in the Aguanga/Sage area just started doing their renewal classes for $175. This is the best price I've seen so far from a private vendor.
