If it's a Ruger then save your money and get a real firearm.

Say what you want about rugers. I buy them from guys all the time and I love them. They are stupid reliable and I think that my SR9 is everything that the Glock should have been, but isn't. Sold all my glock and will keep my rugers thanks! Flame away, its a chevy vs ford argument anyway...
I will definately be getting one sooner or later when they finally become available. |

With a mag safety, LCI and Internal Locking Mechanism as its bigger brother, I can't see why it won't get into the DOJ roster list.
I will buy it after all the bugs are worked out. There was a recall on the the full-size SR9 if I'm not wrong. |

Own a Ruger auto and wheel gun and i've had nothing but built-like-a-tank reliability from them all the time. I've fired thousands and thousands of rounds out of my .45 without a hiccup. Steel case, brass case, lead SWC's, Ball, HP, and anything you can imagine. Same as the super redhawk. People knock ruger because they don't like the politics and thats fine, but they still make solid firearms that continue to do the job they were intended.

When this one hits CA. I,m getting one I like Rugers.I,ve got nothing against Smiths I have one, not a fan of Glocks, but everybody has their own preference. My only problem will be keeping my daughter from confiscating it because she really likes to shoot my SR9.I just hope it comes with a reasonable price tag.

Since microstamping is not certified yet by AG (and can't be - see other threads) normal Rostering qualifications apply.
They gun will require a mag disco and an LCI, and given the existing full-size SR9 was Rostered, I don't see how this one can fail to be.

I've been looking for a 9mm for quite some time now. I've shown interest in the SR9 now it looks like theyre releasing a smaller version. Anybody know the MSRP on this and release date yet?

I bought a 10/22 (one of the new "cheap" kind) I put about 300 rounds through it out of the box, without any pre cleaning - with the cheapest ammo I could find - had no problems, worked flawlessly and I had a blast. I would def by another ruger.

How reliable are the sr9?????
Is it true that the older one had a bunch of problems ? Should I just save my money and buy something else? Anyone here have a ruger sr9? Anyone please give any info on them |

The original SR9 had problems with the safety mechanism which resulted in them modifying and recalling to fix the trigger (which now is layered instead of solid like it used to be). That is why there is the additional thumb safety. I kinda like both safeties though. SR9 should be an excellent gun once the kinks are worked out. Ruger knows what their doing.

That was a trigger issue and it was refit witha Glock type trigger. The newer manfacuring dates all have the safety trigger and no problems.

I have two of the post-recall manufacturing dates. Very reliable. For the price v. quality I don;t think you can beat it if you don't mind a polymenr frame.

I have two of the SR9's. I look forward to buying one of the compact versions ASAP. I already called my local FFL and asked him to order one / put one on hold for me as available.

Yup. I like my SR9 better than my Glock* or XD. The XD has the best trigger overall. The Glocks are ... well ... Glocks, so they are excellent. Somehow the SR9 just feels the best in my hand. The initial trigger break is not as clean as the XD, but there is zero slop on the reset, and that makes followup shots a joy. The grip angle is perfect, and the manual safety is right where it ought to be.
I'll be getting a SR9C as soon as the black-slide models become available. *I should note that I just sold a Gen2 Glock17, and I'll probably be replacing it with a Gen3 RTF model. My first pistoil was a Glock, and I can't bear the thought of not having at least ONE in my collection. :-)

Not a fan of the SR9, but for some reason I like the SR9c. Its not as awkward looking this compact. For me, the biggest appeal would be the sturdiness that Ruger is known for and at a price point that I believe the Glocks should be closer to (ofcourse just my opinion). Only thing I don't like about it is having an external safety. For whatever reason, i've had nothing but bad luck with em. Last notable was a Springfield 1911's safety locking up on me and I just couldn't get it disabled (rangemaster/smith had to tinker with it after).

I do not own one, but I have shot it. I really liked it. It made my top 3 in my decision process.
For all you Ruger nay-sayers out there, just remember this: Glocks blow up, SIGs have a high bore axis, Beretta locking blocks break, Ruger is anti-gun, 1911s are unreliable, and HK hates you. Get over it.

I am on a "call list" with a couple of the stores in the Sacramento area. Once I get mine, I'll let you know.

I was there when my FFL was talking to the suppliers (well two of them) and they both said the pistol is on back order.
I'm not a big fan of Ruger, but I would like to see/feel/shoot this one. |

rugers aren't that bad (speaking for myself). have a mini 14 and is a hoot to shoot. however, my ruger mkIII .22lr is a bit picky in regards to the type of ammo i used. if i use a remington, it tends to misfire. with winchester not that much misfire. that ruger sr9c looks appetizing
