Nothing major has happened that I can think that would affect my approval. Only thing I can think of is a no fault accident I was in last year or so, which i told him about.

So let me do a quick revision, since the other post was on my phone and I wanted to be brief. Got the call, investigator went through my app to verify everything and if anything has changed. Told me he got everything he needed and would forward the app to the Sheriff who had final say. He said to not take the class in case I was denied, so I don't waste my time/money. But unofficially, he said it wouldn't hurt to go ahead and take the class.
I guess it just got me thinking because the last time, I was told to go ahead and take the class and should be approved within a week to two. But like I mentioned I might just be worried for nothing. |

My guess would be that in the past they told someone that everything looks good, it wouldn't hurt to go ahead and take the class now. Then for some reason they were denied and a complaint was filed asking for money back.
This caused policy to change to not take the class until given the okay. Just my two cents.

It's working here, but they've stated no new applications will be processed due to covid:

Extension
Former SJC CCW holder here. Now in Las Vegas. Clark County has extended CCW renewals for 120 days due to the virus.
With what is going on with zero bail in SJC and elsewhere I would just keep carrying regardless. I know there are different opinions on this and everyone needs to assess their risk tolerance but that's my 2 cents. Doug |

Picked up my license. I dont know if it's been mentioned already but they are back to laminated rice paper. The person who helped me said the plastic cards didnt have all the info that DOJ requires to be on it. She said they might have it required out by the time I renew.

So should we begin with our renewal process 6 months in advance now? Mine is October and starting to feel like I should start it now...? |

Permitium 90 Window
Unfortunately the Permitium online application form will not allow you to submit your renewal request until you are within the 90-day window prior to your CCW expiration date.

My renewal was filed online over 15 weeks ago (in January). I had my phone interview recently and am now waiting for the sheriff to approve the renewal. My background is squeaky clean.
Unfortunately, there seems to be no sense of urgency to renew CCW's that have expired due to the delayed processing time. Hopefully my wait ends next week. |

Currently waiting on Sheriff approval for new license.
Applied Dec 8, 2019 Fingerprints Jan 8, 2020 Phone Interview March 31, 2020 I have a CCW class next weekend. Was told *could take class* but was told disclaimer Sheriff could say no. Was told by Professional Standards Investigator from his submittal to approval is about 2 Months. So hopefully I’ll hear some news any week. Last edited by timber0102; 05-09-2020 at 7:22 PM.. Over 16 weeks and still waiting for renewal approval. I guess the sheriff is too busy to get these off his desk.
Maybe next week will be the one. Just to recap, 2018 renewal with Sheriff Moore took 10 days from submittal to pick-up. 2020 renewal with the new sheriff, 115 days and counting. And this trend dates back to before the virus outbreak. |

Just let them know but they will print your license based on your qualification cert you get from the instructor. If it is different than the application they will do a background check to make sure the gun belongs to you and then you should be good to go.

Edit: for some reason I get the feeling that processing times are turning into the long delays that we had when sheriff Moore was doing them. Took 1 year for my initial license to be approved. But I ran into the same issue when renewing. Sheriff Moore took less than 2 weeks, Sheriff Withrow took over 3 months. I thought Permitium was suppose to streamline everything? I never understood why people thought online applications were going to make the process faster.
It makes our life easier by not having to hand deliver paperwork. But a human being still has to do all the investigating. They have no reason to speed up the process. It is of no benefit to them. Unless they end up in a lawsuit because they did not get a renewal done in a timely manner. |

161.85 don't know how much the live scan is but hopefully not much because it already costed so much initially. Wish it was like Sac so if we do get denied I'm not out 160 dollars. Theirs is like 20 dollars initially.

How I see it on the Permitium site:
Standard 2 year: Initial fee: $153 Live Scan: $133 Upon Approval/Pickup: $80 For a grand total of $366, which isnt including your training fee, which I think most start around $200+. Plus if you only have 1 gun that you can ccw, then you will want to buy at least 2 more right?? Edit: forgot to add the site charges a fee for using a debit/credit card as well. It's NOT $366... The following does not include credit card fees/taxes- Old fee breakdown: $153 ($133 livescan & $20 filing) + $80 (issuance fee) = $233 Something that wasn't there when I did my application a few months ago.. I guess they are just combining the filing fee and issuance fee into "sheriff's fee" ? New fee breakdown: $133 (livescan) + $100 (sheriff's fee) = $233 |

I just got a call from the sheriff's office about my ccw. The investigator told me he was going to send off my packet to Sheriff Withrow and it could take 4-6 weeks. This is for a new application.
Applied 2/24/20 fingerprints=3/6/20 interview=5/27/20 |

Starting my CCW application after 2 years of research and training. I do have a question I’d like some insight on. I have a charge that was expunged over 13 years ago. Do I still need to disclose that? Will it show up on my background check?
Thanks in advance San Joaquin Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
