Default Norco GSSF Match April 6 & 7 - Who is going?

Glock Sport Shooting Foundation (GSSF) match at Raahauge's Shooting Park in 2 1/2 weeks. Who is planning on going?

For those of you with experience at this event, it appears to be a very large event. What can you tell those of us who have never been?

Myself and the rest of the Calguns.net shooting team will be there. In addition to a Glock(s) I would suggest 150 rounds per division you want to shoot, 4 magazines minimum per division so no one has to wait while you load mags on the firing line, water and snacks are always a good idea although Rahagues usually has something cooking. Study the rule book at GSSF online and ask any questions from there here. Most importantly, HAVE FUN!!

Will you be shooting at Burbank next week?

You can use hicaps, but only loaded to 10 rounds.

Correct. You are limited to a maximum of 11 rounds in the gun except for Major Sub which is 7 rounds. You may use your pre-ban standard cap mags if you want, I do.

Technically speaking the only legal base pads are Pearce. If they are metal they could be considered ballast. Same with the magwell. They seem to be OK with plastic. Any extra metal bumps you to Unlimited.

but im not a master hehe

EDIT: I emailed gssf and will post up their reply when I receive it so that others who might have the same questions can see

OK... Question: If I have a lighter pull trigger spring does that DQ me from competing in stock amateur class?

GSFF has lots and lots of rules, 76 pages of them @61Mb.

http://www.gssfonline.com/glockrpt/2...OCK_Report.pdf

40.40 Specific Illegal Modifications in the “Stock” Divisions:

• Any non-post and notch sight. This includes “Ghost
Ring” or laser, electronic and optical sights. Please
note that fiber-optic and express sights are permitted.
• Wrap-around “grip sleeves” on magazines.

• Aftermarket component parts to be used in the
Amateur-Civilian, Amateur-Guardian, Amateur or
Master Subcompact, Amateur or Master Heavy
Metal, Amateur or Master Master-Stock, Amateur or
Master Competition, and Amateur or Master Major-
Subcompact divisions.
• Aftermarket barrels.
• Aftermarket recoil spring guide/recoil reducer assemblies.
• Aftermarket extended slide stop levers.
• Firing pins (modified/aftermarket).
• Connectors (modified/aftermarket).
• Metallic magazine well “funnels” or “slugs”.
• Lights or other barrel weights including GLOCKproduced
light/laser units.
• Aftermarket metallic replacement frames.
• Any modification deemed by the Range Master to
create an unfair competitive advantage
• Non-factory “stippling”. (Stippling that is burned or
cut into the polymer frame)

40.50 All firearms are subject to inspection at the
matches for appropriate classification. Random
inspections may occur at GSSF matches. In the
event a GLOCK pistol is deemed illegal for a Stock
division, if possible the competitor’s entry will be
moved to the Amateur and Master Unlimited division.
Refunds will not be given to those who fail inspection.

Well, to be fair only about 16 pages are rules an much of that is course layouts and prize payouts. However, you should download this and study it before you show up so you understand course layouts and procedures.

As for the trigger spring, I assume you are talking about the actual trigger spring and not the striker spring or an aftermarket connector? This would be technically illegal as would an aftermarket connector like a LWD or Ghost. Unless you are running in the top 10 I doubt you would be called on it. If you want to be safe put the stock stuff back in it.

In Spring of 1992, GSSF had one rule

Stock Glocks Only

"This year GSSF will host a Fun Match with merchandise awards given away every hour. For a small fee, a competitor will receive 6 rounds, a Glock pistol of his choice, and a chance to hit 4 falling plates for time. This will be a "Fun Shoot" as not all prizes and awards will go to the most skilled"

so GSSF replied to me. I was informed that even though I am not a Master shooter, I would have to compete in Master Unlimited and be lumped in with the masters.

Good thing this magwell is so easy to take off, I'm sticking with Am. Comp.

I think you would be moved to Amateur Unlimited

In the event a GLOCK pistol is deemed illegal for a Stock
division, if possible the competitor’s entry will be
moved to the Amateur and Master Unlimited division.
Refunds will not be given to those who fail inspection.

This is straight from GSSF

" Good morning,

You will be able to shoot it in the Master Unlimited. All members amateur and masters can shoot in this division, however you will be competing against the Masters for prizes."

That's interesting they would drop you in Master Unlimited if you have never even shot a GSSF before.... Sounds like they don't want any mods at all. Actually you don't really need to mod a Glock except for sights as OEM sights suck. The 3.5lb OEM connector is legal as well as a OEM G21 mag release which is extended in a G17 frame.

Does anybody know what time it will end on Saturday?

I'm considering doing LAX Indoor Saturday morning then head to Norco so I can knock out both on the same day.

This will enable me to shoot Prado IPSC on sunday

About the only thing not specifically mentioned is the trigger spring itself! Is that because Glock used to have several spring rates, or?

Sorry, when you said AFTERMARKET I was not thinking of Glock OEM +2's. You are correct that these would be legal as well. The general idea here is that Glock wants the guns to be as stock as possible. They are trying to prevent an equipment race like other orgs but I am not sure how sucessful they really are.

And I agree with Highlander, the stock sights SUCK! Dawson FO Adjustables for me!!

I think they typically run till 4-5 or run out of shooters. I would think if you can get in the first rotation at LAX you should be able to shoot twice and make it out in plenty of time as long as you are not shooting all 7 divisions.

Ah, the good ol' days!

FYI, they run Amatuer's and Masters all alike in Unlimited. Not sure why they make a distinction there as everyone competes on the same level there.

Magazine extensions are irrelevant because you can only load 10 rounds. Trigger pull (break) weight in a Glock is the combination of the striker spring, connector and trigger reset spring. You can mix and match any of the OEM combinations.

Keep in mind that the RO's are not going to do anything on the line other than note on the scoresheet that you have said aftermarket part. GSSF will make the final determination. Show up with a bunch of obvious aftermarket parts and shoot in the 300's and it is likely no one will mess with you. Shoot Matchmeister and count on getting bumped!

Dang, the stippling bumps it out.... Man, GSSF has gotten harsh since 1992

Non-factory “stippling”. (Stippling that is burned or

I think one or 2 of the other mods might bump it too. Like, is that a metal mag well?

Yes, especially ones with a Glock and ammo! Bring your gun and shoot. There will be plenty of time to watch and ask questions of the other shooters or RO's. virtually EVERYONE that had gone to just watch one of these has regretted not shooting it.
