Stupid Russians shouldn't even have made them.

Ok, so its junk, you hate it, you vomit and its not worth $69. Can we agree on $59 and i'll take it?

Seems to me that though commenters in here dont even think its worth $59, i think its plain wrong to let a Calguns brother or sister suffer like that so im willing to step up. Let me know how we can complete the transfer.

I have never seen that many M39's in one place, with one exception. I can't recall the site, but there was a video of some big guy in a small t-shirt huffing and puffing as he sweated all over the inventory and dried fired all of them repeatedly.

Whatever. I have some pretty ones, i have a lot more ugly ones. They are from all different countries and perhaps different wars. There may be others like them, but these ones are mine. I didn't buy any of this crap as an investment, or to impress anyone, but for my personal enjoyment.

If you feel the need for acceptance, or validation of your life's accomplishments through internet folks' approval, go ask your dad for a hug. I'll just be here with my guns...

Therein lies the beauty of owning military surplus firearms. It is irrelevant whether or not you bought them as investments. They are investments regardless. Think of all the crap people buy that loses 75% of its value as soon as it leaves the store. It is a safe bet that all those Mosins and Garands, Enfields, Lugers, etc. will hold value and increase in equity unless they are bubba'd, lost / stolen, or blown up.

I have to disagree. Nothing goes straight up and all bubbles burst. When everyone starts thinking that way and they begin overpaying that's usually when prices drop. See housing market and .com stocks. We used to say when the cabbie is talking and buying stocks it's time to short the market.

Yeah, all these modern plastic/polymer firearms will be recycled long before reaching C&R eligibility.

Their prices will NEVER escalate. Unless off roster in CA.

I sold a mint unfired Polish Rifle for $450 three years ago. Now they are north of $1000 on Gunbroker. I bought it new for $300, so I can’t complain. I used the money to get a Garand from the CMP.

I have to disagree with your model. We're talking tens of thousands of dollars with homes, versus hundreds with C&R. Bought right, milsurp and C&R aren't going to go down, flat maybe, but not down. Even if by some miracle, the flood gates of SKSs should open up, like the Albanian surge, the importers are not going to be giving them away. PAX

they might, do you remember the "Chinese" SKS's that were coming in about 4 years ago? I got my "B Grade" all matching milled for 199.99 shipped from Royal Tiger imports.

Some people received Russian SKS's I received a Sino Soviet, and other early Chinese.

That's exactly what I referenced. So you're saying that should another cache come ashore, they be selling them at 2010-2014 prices? I think not. They'll be going for street bank, because the importers know they can get it. There won't be hundreds of thousands of them. PAX

I don't recall SKS's selling for $200 in 2014. That was the whole reason why I purchased one. The cheapest at the time were the crappy 59/66s. I believe and those were going for around $350 if I remember correctly. This was also post Sandy Hook when prices were wildly inflated.

IF another large shipment like that came in, I doubt they would sell at 2018 pricing.

just went on way back machine, "Special Select" not "Excellent" from Samco, 59/66's were selling for 429.99.

Very Good with cracked stocks were 379.99. Big 5's pricing was similar, if large retailers were actively selling for that price, what gives with the 50% discount during the height of the gun craze?

See Mopar Cars, 1950s cars, Civil War Firearms, Hummels, Sportscards, if money is made bubbles form and burst.

There are millions of bolt action and importable semis in Russian and former Soviet Satellite storage. Sam Cummings put the number at 25 Million in 1998. Sarco buyer said they have seen a couple million. Storage Facilities so large that you could start cleaning them at the beginning of the year and by the time you got to the end it would be the end of the year and time to start over. Sarco is actively importing Russian Mosins and stamping them with the Century Billboard on the receiver. Couldn't convince them that is not necessary and they can stamp discreetly on the barrel. I have to dig up the pics of the multiple matching 91/30 they had with folding Bayonets. Owners of Sarco are partners in Century.

Here is one pic. Can't find others but there are more on the racks and lots of Yugos too. This was day after Labor Day.

What more does a soldier need in a bolt action rifle? I think the Mosin provides reasonable accuracy in a very durible, functional, and inexpensive design.

Lock screws didn’t do much to win the war for Germany.

Unless you just pay way too much, or buy really lousy rifles, you won't lose money on these things. Even a few pieces i paid too much for years ago have appreciated enough to where i'd make money if i sold them now. That being said, i'm not selling them anyway so pffffttttt.

I wouldn't be so sure of that. If that were true forget about stocks, mutuals, bonds, and metals. I believe we have hit a peak.

Buying milsurp as investment is never gonna be significant in retirement planning But then, you can't play with your stock certificate, but you can get a lot more enjoyment in shooting your milsurps.

I've seen many guns outperform many stocks.

Aim Surplus has Mosins for $299. And they have the import numbers in the worst place imaginable, on top of the receiver. As expensive as these are I am sure they are going to keep going up.

Probably not $69 more like $100. It was just recently on this very forum a seller had (5) 91/30 refurbs with accessories for $200 each that sat unsold till I believe he dropped the price to $180.

Sarco for months has had the 91/30 with folding bayonet $275 for round $375 for Hex. They sit unsold.

Maybe Classic and Aim will find suckers to pay $300. Maybe not.

I would say the average 91/30 refurb price is closer to $200 than $300. A year ago they were above $300 and many were saying $500 is next.

The reason Century, AIM, and Classic have 91/30 is Sarco (same owners own Century) is bringing them in from storage of millions in Ukraine. Sarco buyer said there are warehouses full. There are not enough buyers to absorb what is sitting in collections there certainly are not enough to absorb thousands more.
