OK then thanks for letting us know that it's possible but...how is this done? What does the Mag Lock do to accomplish this? I thought these were considered SBR's? I'm missing something. Please help a man out because I think it would be fun to have one too. Thanks...c good

the "charger" is a pistol not a SBR so you have until the end of the year to make one from a 80%

mag lock is needed due to mag outside the grip ....

ETA you could have bought one also with a maglock... and after the first you will have to find one that is already in CA due to no more SSE unless someone figures out what SSE2.0 is .....

SBR? No, why would you think that? It's no different than an XP100 or an AR15 type handgun. You just need to follow all the AW laws and need to get one in such a way that it is roster exempt.

Indeed. You could also just build one.

Although I don't exactly see what's so impressive about the new charger. AR grip, threaded barrel, and a bx-15 mag, whoopdeedoo. Of course I was never particularly impressed with the charger in the first place.

OK...I didn't realize this, so this could have been an SSE'd type of pistol? Unfortunately or fortunately, I've already burned up my SSE's through the end of the year. Jeepers mentioned an 80% build. I didn't think that 80% builds would be restricted after the Brown veto. Would an 80% still be an option on this build then after the first of the year? As long as compliant with SB23? Thanks, c good

So basically you'd have to buy one that's been SSE already in the state or machine an 80% and build your own with a mag lock?
Who carrys the mag lock?

Meh. Still an oversized .22lr pistol. Unless you plan on using a benchrest pistol(for what, I don't know. The xp100 makes sense, ruger isn't making anything that accurate from the factory), might as well just use a rifle or a "normal" pistol.

yup its a range toy just like my Uzi pistols and AR pistols

i do most my builds as pistols and there is a reason for that, once i get bored of them i can convert them to full size and if i ever leave CA or our laws change can convert back to pistol ......

Damm, the takedown model looks interesting. I assume a std length barrel from
a full size takedown rifle will fit. Now you can go from full size to really compact with a twist of the barrel. Put a folding stock on the rig and you will have all the options covered.

If you put a stock on a handgun, you will need to follow NFA regulations and it would be a SBR.

^ Or avoid the short barrel/shoulder stock installed configuration (i.e., install 16" or longer barrel, then shoulder stock, removing shoulder stock before installing <16" barrel). Outside of CA, one could switch back and forth as long as it was never assembled in an SBR configuration. Inside CA, once the long barrel and stock go on, it's a rifle - no going back.

ONLY bringing this back from the dead because the information in it is no longer going to be relevant as of 1/1/17, If you own a Charger in California before 1/1/17, it will need to be registered as an assult weapon to remain legal in California. (unless theres some strange "fixed mag" config that would be accepted that im unaware of....... now that the hand made bullet button will be void from legal acceptance
